Travel Symposium 2025

Highlights of India’s Expanding Inclusive Tourism Landscape

The IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Travel Symposium 2025 wrapped up successfully at The LaLiT New Delhi, bringing together industry leaders, hospitality professionals, and LGBTQ+ advocates to explore the growing potential of inclusive tourism in India.

As global trends project LGBTQ+ travel to become a USD 552 billion industry by 2031, growing at 7% annually, India is uniquely positioned to be a key player. With the world’s largest Gen Z population and a rising number of LGBTQ+ affirmative individuals, the country presents a golden opportunity to foster welcoming and diverse travel experiences.

The symposium provided a platform for in-depth discussions on international travel policies, safety considerations, and marketing strategies aimed at enhancing experiences for LGBTQIA+ travelers. Experts emphasized the untapped potential of engaging the queer community through authentic representation and inclusive messaging.

LoAnn Halden, Vice President of Communications at IGLTA, highlighted the transformative power of LGBTQ+ travelers, stating:
“India’s LGBTQ+ community is in a position to redefine the travel and hospitality industry. This symposium is about unlocking a market that is eager and ready to engage.”

Swati Jain, Founder of Katha Studio, reinforced the importance of visibility, remarking:
“A simple rainbow flag can be a bold statement of inclusivity—provided it’s backed by real action. Authentic marketing and clear communication of safe spaces can inspire more LGBTQIA+ travelers to explore freely, creating a positive impact on both business and society.”

As India continues to solidify its place in the global travel market, conversations like those at the IGLTA Foundation LGBTQ+ Travel Symposium 2025 are paving the way for a more inclusive and empowered industry—one that welcomes and celebrates diverse identities and experiences.
