SS Innovations International Hosts India’s First Robotic Telesurgery Marathon, commemorating 100 Telesurgeries milestone with SSII Mantra
SS Innovations International marked a defining moment for Indian medical technology when it successfully completed 100 robotic telesurgeries using its indigenous surgical robotic system, SSII Mantra. Announced from New Delhi on December 23, 2025, the milestone reflected not just a number, but a quiet shift in how advanced surgical care was beginning to travel across distances—reliably, safely, and at scale.
To commemorate the achievement, the company hosted India’s first Robotic Telesurgery Marathon, during which more than ten tele-enabled robotic surgeries were performed in a single day. Conducted across multiple specialties, the marathon became a live clinical validation of the SSII Mantra platform, demonstrating its precision, consistency, and ability to support complex procedures beyond the confines of a single operating room or city. It offered a glimpse into a future where geography no longer dictated access to expert surgical care.
For a country as vast and diverse as India, where advanced healthcare infrastructure remains concentrated in a few urban centers, the significance of telesurgery was especially evident. By enabling experienced surgeons to operate remotely, SSII Mantra helped bridge long-standing gaps in access, bringing specialist-driven care closer to patients in smaller cities and underserved regions. The milestone also reinforced India’s growing role as a global contributor to medical technology innovation, driven by homegrown solutions designed for real-world clinical demands.

Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of SS Innovations International, described the moment as a turning point for Indian medtech. He noted that completing 100 telesurgeries was not only a technological success but a clinical one, proving that scale, precision, and reliability could coexist in remote surgery. The marathon, he said, demonstrated the company’s long-held belief that world-class surgical expertise developed in India could reach patients anywhere through dependable, indigenous technology.
The marathon brought together leading surgeons from across disciplines, each highlighting the platform’s impact within their field. Dr. Sudhir Rawal of the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute emphasized how robotic telesurgery using SSII Mantra was reshaping access to timely and precise cancer care, particularly for patients who might otherwise be unable to reach specialized centers. For him, the milestone signaled a meaningful evolution in oncology care delivery.
Dr. Mohit Bhandari, President of IRCAD India, observed that the achievement moved telesurgery firmly out of the realm of future possibility and into practical reality. He pointed out that complex procedures could now be decentralized without compromising outcomes, opening new pathways for scalable surgical care. From a urology perspective, Dr. Chandramohan Vaddi of Preeti Urology and Kidney Hospitals highlighted the system’s responsiveness and consistency, noting how these qualities strengthened surgeon confidence during remote procedures.
High-precision specialties echoed similar sentiments. Dr. Lalit Malik of Manipal Hospital remarked that the performance of SSII Mantra during telesurgery underscored its robustness, an essential requirement for cardiac and vascular interventions where reliability is non-negotiable. Adding to this perspective, Dr. Magan Mehrotra from Apex Hospital, Moradabad, spoke about the broader social impact, emphasizing how indigenous robotic technology was making advanced surgery more accessible and affordable for patients outside major metropolitan hubs.
With 100 telesurgeries completed and India’s first Robotic Telesurgery Marathon successfully executed, SS Innovations International demonstrated the clinical maturity and scalability of the SSII Mantra platform. The milestone reflected a long-term commitment to expanding access to high-quality surgical care and positioned India firmly within the global shift toward technology-enabled, remotely delivered healthcare—quietly, confidently, and with purpose.
