Indo-Russian Education Summit 2026 Opens in New Delhi, Reinforcing Academic and Research Partnerships

The second edition of the Indo-Russian Education Summit (IRES 2026) commenced in New Delhi today, bringing together senior policymakers, academic leaders, university representatives, and government officials from India and Russia for a comprehensive dialogue on the future of educational collaboration between the two nations.

Organized by Rus Education in partnership with Rossotrudnichestvo, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, and Russian House, New Delhi, the summit serves as a significant platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation across education, research, innovation, academic mobility, and institutional partnerships.

The inaugural session witnessed the participation of several distinguished Russian dignitaries, including His Excellency Denis Alipov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India; Dr. Elena Remizova, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India; Dr. Tatyana Semyenova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation; Dr. Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo; and Ms. Yulia Kondykova, Director of the Department of Education at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Representing India were some of the country’s leading education and policy experts, including Dr. Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission; Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President of the Association of Indian Universities; Prof. K.C. Sharma, Chairman of the Haryana State Higher Education Council; Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities; Prof. Gurinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of the Amity Education Group; Prof. P.K. Gupta, Founder and Chairman of the Sharda Group of Institutions; Prof. V.N. Mahalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of Santosh Deemed to be University; Dr. Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University; Dr. Vandana Chaudhary from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India; and Air Marshal (Dr.) Pawan Kapoor (Retd.), Vice Chairman of Rus Education.

The first day of the summit featured four high-level panel discussions that explored key areas of Indo-Russian cooperation, including medical education, engineering and technical studies, artificial intelligence, robotics, aerospace technologies, agriculture, food safety, youth engagement, sports, and cultural exchange. The discussions focused on expanding opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, promoting collaborative research initiatives, and creating long-term academic partnerships between institutions in both countries.

Beyond the formal sessions, the summit also provided a valuable networking platform for universities, academic experts, policymakers, and institutional leaders. These interactions highlighted a shared vision for fostering innovation, enhancing knowledge exchange, and developing future-ready educational frameworks that can benefit students and researchers across borders.

Reflecting on the successful opening day, Air Marshal (Dr.) Pawan Kapoor (Retd.), Vice Chairman of Rus Education, said:

“The opening day of IRES 2026 has strengthened academic dialogue and institutional collaboration between India and Russia, creating new opportunities for future-focused educational partnerships.”

Dr. Elena Remizova, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, emphasized the growing educational ties between the two nations, stating:

“IRES 2026 reflects the strong educational and cultural bond between India and Russia and opens new avenues for cooperation between universities, students, and institutions.”

The first day concluded with a series of productive discussions and strategic engagements aimed at advancing educational diplomacy and broadening collaboration across multiple sectors. The conversations underscored the growing importance of international academic partnerships in addressing future challenges through shared knowledge, innovation, and research.

With over three decades of experience in facilitating international education opportunities, Rus Education expressed its gratitude to participating delegates, universities, institutions, and partners for contributing to the successful launch of the summit. Through its extensive network of university collaborations, student support services, and global education initiatives, the organization continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening educational ties between India and Russia.

As IRES 2026 progresses, the summit is expected to further deepen academic engagement and create new pathways for cooperation between educational institutions in both countries.
