PM HOLNESS CHALLENGES TRAVEL INDUSTRY TO GRASP OPPORTUNITIES BORN OUT OF COVID

All India, February 17, 2022: The Global Tourism Resilience Forum held today in Dubai at Expo 2020 in the DP Pavilion was an outstanding example of ‘taking the bull by its horns’. Minister of Tourism for Jamaica and the Co-Chair of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC), Honourable Edmund Bartlett spear-headed the event with a powerful opening purpose-made video setting the scene for the dramatic day to unfold.

The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica delivered remotely, a powerful and thoughtful opening speech explaining the importance of preparedness and resilience. “The recovery of the global tourism industry is a critical determinant of the overall pace of economic recovery but particularly for the most tourism dependent regions of the world”. He continued, “the pandemic has brought opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate more closely, to identify best practices, strategies and innovation that will promote the recovery and build overall resilience for the future.”

Throughout the day speakers from the public and private sectors drew on their experiences to share with the international audience of travel and finance professionals. Minister Bartlett’s mission is to ensure the industry is delivering through action and deeds and he made that abundantly clear.

Four strategic actions were revealed today, the launch of a campaign to name February 17 as internationally recognized, Global Tourism Resilience Day. It is an initiative that will be a year in the making but has already started with the support of the United Nations and major trade associations across the world. Thus, adding to global awareness of the travel and tourism industry but drawing focus to preparedness and resilience activities. The second action was the announcement of the ambitious expansion plans of the GTRCMC. Just within the day, two agreements were signed with Canada and Bulgaria and a third to be signed in Jordan on the 20th of February to establish remote Centres.

The third action was the announcement of a book published on resilience entitled, “Tourism Resilience and Recovery for Global Sustainability and Development” which is a collaboration of PhD and graduate students with the forward by former UNWTO Secretary General, Dr. Taleb Rifai and edited by Professor Lloyd Waller, Executive Director of the GTRCMC and Minister Bartlett. And finally, not the least of which is Minister’s vision to create a global tourism fund from where destinations or industry stakeholders with limited resources can draw assistance in the case of disruption. A collection of actions that are as large in scale as the feats ahead. The speakers of the forum reiterated that disruptions will be ongoing so industry responses must be visionary and constant to meet the challenges.

“Before the pandemic, no one spoke of resilience – sustainability was the topic du jour. We have forged ahead through these critical actions of expansion, thought leadership, publication and Global Tourism Resilience Day,” concluded Minister Bartlett. But with a smile and an eye of more to come, he beamed at the audience thinking of “the establishment of an international fund, global multi-national support and funding campaigns, new tool development, technological innovations, events and publications. We will strive to affect the lives and livelihoods of millions for the better.”

Bob Marley, a pioneer of reggae music, was instrumental in putting his island nation and its culture on the map. In 2018, Reggae music was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.

Wall of Fame

February was officially declared as Reggae Month in 2008. This annual observance highlights and celebrates the impact of the musical genre on Jamaica’s social, cultural and economic development.Reggae Month, the annual celebration of all things reggae, began on 30 January 2022, with a church service. The chief congregantswere launched by the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia “Babsy” Grange and the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism of Jamaica.

Reggae month 2022 is set to be a sensational and invigorating! Saluting the genre, the entire month of February is dedicated to Reggae beats, organised by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association. Every day is promised with electrifying performances, dancehall concerts and weekly shows followed by awards nights.

In an initiative to celebrate the Reggae Month, music-lovers visiting the Expo, are in for a real treat at the Jamaica Pavilion as it celebrates its reggae month in February and the birthday of legendary Jamaican singer and musician Bob Marley. Visitors to the pavilion can embark on a music journey and enjoy the ‘riddim’ of the nation, experience a recording studio vibe at the mixer board while listening to the tunes of the bass guitar and the funky sounds of the computer drum machine, as well as remixed versions of reggae songs.Guitars belonging to famous guitarist and composer Ernest Ranglin, as well as exhibits from the National Museum of Kingston, are displayed in one corner of the studio, and the wall of fame pays homage to other famous Jamaican musicians: Shaggy, Sean Paul, Ziggy Marley, Damian Marley, Daddy U-Roy, Beenie Man, Chaka Demus, and more.During the month, visitors can also enjoy multiple activities at the Jamaica Pavilion like karaoke on Bob Marley songs and various reggae songs, Reggae Treasures – a reggae treasure hunt, reggae hour and much more.

KOHLER Anthem Showering Valves, Controls Elevate the Shower’s Design and Experience

Every aspect of the new Anthem valves and controls from Kohler have been thoughtfully designed to give users a truly immersive showering experience, tailored to their exact specifications and altered according to their needs. With two valve platforms to choose from – mechanical and digital – and meticulously engineered to fit global plumbing standards, these precision systems elevate the showering routine to a next level sensory event, further expanding Kohler’s industry-leading approach to digital showering.

The Anthem controls take their design cues from high-end home furnishings and have a minimalist, sophisticated, and warmly tactile vibe. Like so many familiar electronic products, the digital valve control’s touch-sensitive surface is intuitive and easy to use. The valves can control up to six outlets, allowing the user personalization over any combination of shower sprays, rainheads, showerheads, handshowers and body sprays. Each outlet can be independently adjusted to suit the user’s specific temperature and flow desires, such as a soft, warm spray from the overhead rainhead along with strong, hot massage from the hand shower. Users can mix and match to their heart’s content and then program up to 10 favourite presents to revisit anytime.

“A really great shower is based highly on personal preference and should be completely within the control of the user,” says Lun Cheak Tan, Kohler VP of Industrial Design. “We have developed the Anthem valves and controls to empower bathers with the ability to manipulate flow, temperature and sprays to achieve a personalized wellbeing experience.”

Anthem digital control offers independent access to every spray and up to two temperature zones, making it easy to change settings with precision and choose individual levels of warmth for different areas of the body.

The Anthem mechanical controls have their own sophisticated look and feel. Buttons for each outlet pop open when pushed, converting into dials that allow users to set and adjust flow volume. Clear, commonly understood iconography takes any guesswork out of the process, paving the way to a personalized sensory experience that can be universally enjoyed. Anthem controls are available in polished chrome matte black, rose gold, french gold, brushed bronze.

These new Anthem controls from KOHLER transform the daily routine of showering into a customized corporeal event with the power to instil a sense of well-being and transform the day. With cutting-edge engineering, thoughtful design and a customer-centric mindset that has been an integral part of the company since 1873, Kohler continues to elevate the ordinary and awaken the senses with its new Anthem controls and valves.

They were the ideal choice to launch this Lipstick with because of their popularity in their hometown and in India” says Priyank Shah, Co-Founder Renee Cosmetics.

The Renee Madness PH stick contains ingredients like Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Glycerin. Coconut Oil and Candelilla wax, Macadamia Oil and olive oil, all these naturally sourced ingredients put your lips under a spell of nourishment and a charm of enchantment whenever you wish. “We believe in magic, thus we came up with the idea of a different coloured lipstick giving a new shade, and what better shade than black lipstick giving a pink shade??”said Ashutosh Valani, Co-Founder Renee Cosmetics.
