  •  After pregnancy, I got dark pigmentation patches on my face. Please suggest remedies.

 Apply a sunscreen with high SPF before going out in the sun. Mix rice powder with curd and pinch of turmeric. Use as a facial scrub once or twice a week. Apply only on the dark patches and rub gently on the skin with tiny circular movements. Leave on for a few minutes and then wash off with water. Mix honey and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply daily only on the dark patches. Wash off after 15 minutes with plain water.

  • I have blackheads on and around my nose area. How to remove them?

Blackheads occur on oily skin or oily areas of the skin. After washing the face in the morning, wipe the blackhead prone areas with astringent lotion, using cotton wool. In the morning after washing the face, make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste on the areas with blackheads daily and wash it off after 5 minutes. Three times a week, mix oats with egg white and apply on areas with blackheads. Leave on for 5 minutes. Then rub gently on the skin using small circular movements. Leave on for 5 minutes and wash off with water.

 

  • How can I prepare facial scrubs at home? How often should I use?

 For dry skin, use facial scrub once a week. For oily skin, you may use 2 or 3 times a week. Avoid scrubs on pimples, acne or rash. To make a scrub, you can mix rice powder or ground almonds with curd. Ground almonds can also be mixed with honey to make a scrub. Dried and powdered lemon and orange peels, or dry and powdered mint leaves, may be added to a scrub, for glowing skin. A scrub can also be made with walnut powder, honey and lemon juice. Apply scrub on the face and leave on for a few minutes. Then, rub gently, with small circular movements, washing off with water.

  • My elbows are dark. Please suggest remedies.

 Take lemon halves and rub them daily on the elbows. Wash it off and then apply sesame seed (til) oil and massage it into the skin. Make a paste of gram flour (besan), curd, lemon juice and a little turmeric (haldi). Apply the paste on these areas at least three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour.

#SOUNDSOFSOCIETY SEASON 2, Produced by Urban Beat Project, curated by Laiq Qureshi

 Society Tea, in association with Urban Beat Project, curated by Laiq Qureshi, recently announced the launch of the Second Season of its live musical web series – #SoundsofSociety, https://soundsofsociety.in/, and are here with two brand new episodes.

 Episode 2 features a one-of-a-kind collaboration with beatboxing and looping artists –  Mr. Woodnote and Bellatrix and their arrangement ‘Sugar On My Sweets’, while Episode 3 will take you on a journey presenting unique sounds of Reggae music coming out of India, featuring French reggae heavy-weight Naâman, along with Cisco Kid, and Bee Wise on their amazing orchestration, ‘Know The Sunset, written by Nicolas Obino.

Sounds of Society is a genre-free, no-rules, and an all-inclusive approach to presenting music-making and its associated performing arts. It features musicians and their grassroots approach to making music, in an entirely collaborative format. Sounds of Society – Season 2 is shot with minimal fuss and equipment, and will feature both, edited as well as, one-take videos, to showcase the true organic nature of each episode.

The season’s second episode presents, Mr Woodnote, a saxophonist, composer and producer hailing from Bristol, UK, accompanied by Bellatrix, a fast rising singer-songwriter, who also happens to be a professional bassist and former world beat boxing champion and is known to wear a number of different musical hats. Having brewed an exceptional arrangement titled, ‘Sugar On My Sweets’, both musicians are no strangers to spontaneity, and are known for creating intricate structures on the fly. Having known about each other for a while, and despite the fact that both lived in the UK, this was the first time they got to perform and create something together. What you hear is absolutely unplanned, and showcases their versatility and sheer genius both, as a musician and as a producer.

Calling India their home in winters, we have three versatile European musicians Naâman, Cisco Kid, and Bee Wise collaborating in the third episode of the season, who will take you on a mesmerising journey into the unique sounds of Reggae music coming out of India through an amazing orchestration titled, ‘Know The Sunset’, written by Nicolas Obino. Martin Mussard better known as Naâman to the Reggae massive, is a 27-yr-old, who has won the Les Victoires du Reggae, ranking second most programmed artist on the festival circuit in France in 2016, while Bee Wise is a Producer, Sound System Operator and a Live Musician, delivering Top Selections that flows from Roots from the 70’s to the most recent Stepper Sounds out of UK and European Sound Systems, and Cisco Kid, a Reggae Roots Dub selecta, expressing himself through the mic and his fine selection spreading the word of love and unity. This composition is another example of musical spontaneity, as the whole structure and composition came about one beautiful evening on the cliffside by the sea in Goa, capturing the essence in its purest and raw form. Each artist has dedicated their lives to the genre, as they live, eat and breathe reggae music.

“The Pandemic has made Bespoke weddings the new normal” was the theme of the webinar wherein all the experts forecasted new wedding trends post Corona Virus world. From cutting down the guest list and hosting weddings in home towns to opting for wedding insurance and broadcasting the celebrations online, and yet at the same time make the wedding exclusive and keep the experience memorable was discussed.

Experts from the wedding business revealed new wedding trends for the post-corona era and believed that bespoke weddings/events will be the way to go forward. It will involve creating meaningful and engaging experiences for guests on priority along with precautionary measures in check. Some also sense that the lockdown period has given adequate time to couples as well as wedding vendors to rethink the idea of week-long wedding celebrations and go low-key in the number of guests attending the event.
