Philadelphia in Three Days

Philadelphia blends heritage with creativity, and a three-day itinerary is the ideal way to experience its iconic landmarks, evolving neighbourhoods, and culture-rich corners.

Day 1
Begin in Old City with a cup from Old City Coffee, a neighbourhood favourite since 1985. Walk to Christ Church to sit where America’s early leaders once gathered, then stop by Benjamin Franklin’s resting place. Continue to the National Liberty Museum to explore contemporary interpretations of freedom, highlighted by Dale Chihuly’s towering Flame of Liberty and a rare ringable replica of the Liberty Bell.
Spend the afternoon on the Delaware River Waterfront at Cherry Street Pier, a revived industrial space now home to artists, exhibitions, and river-view dining at The Garden. Or head to South Street to wander through Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, Isaiah Zagar’s immersive mosaic world that spills across the surrounding blocks.
For dinner, choose Victor Café in South Philadelphia, where classic Italian dishes meet operatic performances. End the evening with an Old City Ghost Tour through atmospheric squares and historic sites.

Day 2
Start on the University of Pennsylvania campus at the Penn Museum, home to extraordinary global artefacts and the largest Sphinx in the western hemisphere. Walk to Cira Green, an elevated city park with skyline views, and enjoy a casual breakfast from Walnut Street Café.
Cross the river to the Mütter Museum, known for its rare medical collections and stories of early scientific discovery. Continue north to the Wagner Free Institute of Science, where thousands of specimens are preserved in 19th-century wooden cases. Lunch in Northern Liberties, then explore its boutiques before visiting the Edgar Allan Poe House.
In the evening, head to Fishtown for dinner and a show—whether at the Fillmore, Johnny Brenda’s, or Fabrika’s eclectic dinner theatre.

Day 3
Begin with a traditional scrapple breakfast at Reading Terminal Market or sample global fare from its many vendors. Walk to The Rail Park, an elevated green space built along former railway tracks, and explore the surrounding murals.
Spend the afternoon discovering Philadelphia’s brewing culture at Yards Brewery or join a City Brew Tours experience to sample multiple local breweries. Explore Laurel Hill Cemetery, a 78-acre historic landmark offering themed tours and serene pathways. Continue to South Philadelphia to visit the Simeone Automotive Museum’s world-class collection of racing cars, then unwind at FDR Park.
For your final evening, stroll East Passyunk Avenue, known for its acclaimed restaurants and global dining. End your Philadelphia journey with skyline views at Bok Bar or dinner at Irwin’s, set atop a former school turned creative hub.
