The Real Story Behind the Ghai Family Businesses
Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar is set to marry Saaniya Chandhok, who is being described in the media as the granddaughter of the owner of Hotel InterContinental and linked to Baskin Robbins India and Brooklyn Creamery. However, the real picture behind these claims is more complex.
Ravi Ghai, who is being portrayed as the man behind these enterprises, is not the current leader of these businesses. He sold the Kwality ice cream company, originally founded by his father I.K. Ghai, before moving abroad.
His son, Gaurav Ghai, later took over and is credited with bringing Baskin Robbins to India and managing Brooklyn Creamery. Reports suggest that Gaurav paid Rs 240 crores to his father to take complete control of the group.

Currently, there is a legal dispute between father and son, with Gaurav alleging that Ravi and his sister Gaurika attempted to regain control of the business. Court proceedings are ongoing, and Gaurav remains in charge of the enterprises.
Notably, Gaurav Ghai did not attend the engagement ceremony of Saaniya Chandhok and Arjun Tendulkar, adding to the ongoing speculation surrounding the family dynamics.
This situation raises questions about whether the Chandhok family’s image is being strategically promoted to portray stronger ties to Mumbai’s elite circles.
