MICHELIN Guide Honors Boston’s Rising Dining Scene

The new Northeast Cities edition celebrates Boston and Cambridge with a lineup of star-rated, Bib Gourmand and recommended restaurants.

The MICHELIN Guide’s newest Northeast Cities edition has placed a welcome spotlight on Greater Boston’s culinary talent, revealing its restaurant selections at a spirited ceremony on November 18 in Philadelphia. For the chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality teams who have shaped the region’s food culture for years, the evening felt like an affirmation of the city’s growing influence on the national and global culinary stage. More than two dozen restaurants across Boston and Cambridge were recognized, underscoring the area’s rising status as a must-visit dining destination.

For Meet Boston and the Cambridge Office for Tourism, the announcement marks the culmination of a long-term effort to share the story of Boston’s food identity with the world. Their partnership with the MICHELIN Guide, launched in May 2025, sought to highlight the multicultural, chef-led and community-rooted dining experiences that define the region. After months of anonymous visits, MICHELIN inspectors unveiled a collection that reflects the richness, diversity and creativity of Greater Boston’s restaurants.

A major highlight of the selection is the awarding of One MICHELIN Star to Three 1 One Omakase in the South End, recognized for its expressive, precise and beautifully balanced cuisine.

The Bib Gourmand list, which celebrates restaurants offering high-quality food at a great value, features six beloved establishments:
• Bar Volpe
• Fox & the Knife
• Jahunger
• Mahaniyom
• Pagu
• Sumiao Hunan Kitchen

The Guide also recognized a thoughtful lineup of Recommended Restaurants, each noted for its culinary consistency, technique and distinctive point of view:
• Asta
• Carmelina’s
• Giulia
• La Padrona
• Lenox Sophia
• Moeca
• Mooncusser
• Neptune Oyster
• Nightshade Noodle Bar
• Oleana
• Pammy’s
• Select Oyster Bar
• Somaek
• Thistle & Leek
• Toro
• Urban Hearth
• Wa Shin
• Woods Hill Pier 4
• Zhi Wei Cafe

Reflecting on the moment, Martha J. Sheridan, President and CEO of Meet Boston, shared:
“This new guide reflects our work to spotlight the culinary excellence of Boston, Cambridge and the surrounding region. We know visitors will travel here specifically to experience our MICHELIN-recognized restaurants—and once they’re here, they’ll find that Boston’s culinary culture stretches far beyond these selections. This is our first year in the Guide, and there is so much more ahead.”

Candice Beaulieu, Executive Director of the Cambridge Office for Tourism, added:
“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Boston and Cambridge, and for the region as a whole. We’re honored to be celebrating this first-ever MICHELIN Guide for our restaurant communities. MICHELIN is acknowledging what we’ve long known: our chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality professionals are defining one of the most dynamic and diverse dining destinations in the Northeast.”

The announcement arrives as Boston’s culinary initiative, launched in 2024, continues to elevate the region as a global gastronomic destination. The campaign captures the voices of chefs, the character of local neighborhoods and the region’s deep connection to farm-to-table and sea-to-table dining. Through storytelling and citywide culinary content, it showcases the ingredients, producers and cultural influences that shape Greater Boston’s food landscape.

Around the world, MICHELIN recognition often drives economic growth, with selected restaurants typically seeing a 20–30% increase in business. Cities featured in the Guide also experience notable expansion in both the number of restaurants recognized and the stars awarded over the following years. With this inaugural edition, Boston stands at the beginning of what promises to be a transformative chapter.

This first Northeast Cities selection signals a new era for Boston and Cambridge—one where the region’s culinary creativity, cultural heritage and hospitality shine for travelers seeking standout dining experiences in one of America’s most evolving food destinations.
