JLF Valladolid Spain 2026 Preview Celebrates 70 Years of India-Spain Cultural Relations
New Delhi, Tuesday, 19 May 2026: The official preview of JLF Valladolid Spain 2026 was held on 16 May 2026 at the Embassy of Spain in India in New Delhi. Produced by Teamwork Arts in association with Casa de la India, the evening brought together diplomats, authors, publishers, and members of the literary community to celebrate the growing cultural partnership between India and Spain.
The event was hosted by Juan Antonio March Pujol and opened with remarks by Francisco Capote, Sanjoy K. Roy, and Namita Gokhale.
The year 2026 marks 70 years of diplomatic and cultural relations between India and Spain, making the upcoming edition of JLF Valladolid Spain especially significant. The festival will take place from 11–14 June 2026 across Madrid and Valladolid. The opening programme will be hosted at IE School of Arts & Humanities in Madrid, followed by the main literary festival in Valladolid. The event will conclude with a special closing gala at Abadía Retuerta.
As the international edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, JLF Valladolid Spain 2026 will feature conversations on literature, history, culture, politics, art, and global ideas, along with music performances and curated cultural experiences connecting India and Spain.
Set around Valladolid’s Campo Grande park, the festival will feature an international line-up of writers and speakers including Kailash Satyarthi, Jeet Thayil, Juan Manuel de Prada, Miriam Reyes, Jorge Volpi, Tara Menon, Marta Robles, and William Dalrymple, among others.
The festival will also present its Friend of the Festival (FOF) programme featuring literary sessions, music, performances, heritage walks, regional cuisine, and cultural experiences across Valladolid and Castilla y León. The closing gala at Abadía Retuerta will include a culinary presentation by Michelin-star chef Marc Segarra alongside live performances celebrating Spanish culture, gastronomy, and wine traditions.


Speaking about the festival, Sanjoy K. JLF Valladolid Spain 2026 is supported by the City Council of Valladolid and Junta de Castilla y León, with Fever as Celebration Partner. University partners include the University of Valladolid, IE School of Arts & Humanities, and KIIT.
The festival is also presented in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Spain, the Embassy of India in Spain, Museo Casa de Cervantes, and the Spain-India Foundation.
The preview event built momentum for JLF Valladolid Spain 2026 while reinforcing the role of literature, arts, and cultural exchange in strengthening India-Spain relations.
