The Beirut-born couturier returns to the wedding dress, the piece that first made his name, with a limited-edition gown and veil for his high-street collaboration.
Long before the Paris runways and the red carpets, Elie Saab was a young designer in Beirut making gowns for brides. More than four decades on, he has gone back to where it all started. His much-anticipated collaboration with H&M, arriving on 22 October 2026, will include a single bridal look: a gown and veil he shaped himself in the studio, produced in a deliberately small run and offered only online.
A Silhouette Made for the Walk
The gown takes the form of a mermaid, sculpted close to the body before it releases into layers of fabric and a long, dramatic train. A twisted off-the-shoulder neckline brings a contemporary tension to an otherwise romantic line, sitting somewhere between sensuality and restraint.
The Beauty Is in the Back
Beneath the surface, a corset gives the dress its structure. The real surprise, though, comes as the bride turns away: a sheer mesh panel set into the back of the bodice, scattered with glass beads and sequins that catch the light with every step. Those who know the house will recognise the gesture, as the designer has always treated the back of a gown with the same care as the front.
A Veil Worth Keeping
To complete the look, there is a floor-length veil in fine mesh, hand-embroidered all over with florals and finished with tonal beading. Like every piece in the collection, it is designed with heirloom quality in mind, something to be treasured and handed down rather than folded away after the celebration.
Moved by the Making
For the Swedish retailer’s team, watching the couturier at work proved memorable. “We were all very moved to see Mr Saab working on it in the studio, and the final garment is stunning,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson. “I know it will complete some of our customers’ wedding days, having this landmark item to wear.”
Where the Story Began
For the designer himself, the piece carries personal weight. “Bridal is where everything began, the moment where the language of ELIE SAAB found its voice,” he says. “Our foundations are creating dresses for the most important day in a woman’s life, and that connection has remained deeply personal. To be able, through this collection, to offer a bridal piece at a different price point is something meaningful. It allows a wider audience of future brides to experience our world on their own terms.”
