WORLD FROM ABOVE

Siddhartha Bansal presented World From Above at Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI 2026, exploring a world without borders through the intersection of architecture, nature and Indian craftsmanship. Inspired by the geometry and intricate detailing of India’s Vesara temples, alongside the shifting textures of salt lakes, mineral earth, mountains and natural terrain, the collection brought seemingly disparate landscapes into a unified visual language. Aerial temple plans, carved pillars, ornamental friezes and sacred motifs were reinterpreted through contemporary silhouettes, where architectural precision met the organic irregularity of the earth. Silk, heavyweight silk organza, handwoven tussar silk and Chanderi formed the foundation of relaxed yet sculptural shapes, enhanced by pleating, hand tucks, intricate pinch tucks, hand embroidery and extensive texturing. Rather than reproducing its inspirations literally, Bansal translated their forms and surfaces into a study of geometry, texture and human touch. At its heart, the collection carried a larger message of oneness: the idea that when viewed from a different perspective, the boundaries separating us begin to dissolve.

The collection’s defining statement lay in its architectural silhouettes and richly worked surfaces, where intricate handcraft brought the geometry of temple architecture and the irregular textures of natural landscapes into contemporary fashion. The interplay of sculpted fabrics, delicate detailing and tactile finishes gave the collection its distinctive visual identity.
