ASAL and Mard Shine at India Couture Week

For the first time, ASAL and Mard by Abu Sandeep wowed audiences in New Delhi during the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week, in association with Reliance Brands. The show featured celebrities Taha Shah Badussha and Wamiqa Gabbi, who lit up the runway as the perfect muses for these vibrant labels.

An Unforgettable Show

Abu Sandeep, known for their creativity, didn’t disappoint with their latest show. The theme, ‘Disco Mujra,’ brought a lively and electrifying atmosphere to the event. The backdrop, a massive Haveli-inspired design by Abhinav Bhagat Events, set the scene beautifully. Stand-up comedian Sumukhi Suresh kicked things off with her humorous touch, while musicians Akshay and IP delivered an original soundtrack that included tracks like “Ghana Chowdhary” and “Sharam Da Chola.” G.K. Chudiwala’s exquisite jewelry added an extra layer of elegance to the outfits.

A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

The collection was a perfect blend of fresh perspectives and the timeless beauty of traditional textiles and embroidery, set against the backdrop of a Haveli. Drawing from the rich archives of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the designs honored the duo’s commitment to craftsmanship and heritage.

The ‘Asal Bride’ Collection

‘ASAL’, the bridal womenswear label, launched a majestic new range titled ‘Asal Bride’. The inspiration behind this year’s collection emanates from Abu Sandeep’s continued desire to blend heritage with modern elegance. The intention is to honour today’s bride by harmonising the old with the new. Other ranges within the collection acknowledge the desire that for the grand Indian wedding, everybody wants to dress up – and they should.

Celebrating the Regal Groom of Mard

For ‘The Regal Groom of Mard’, the inspiration finds its roots in how men no longer shy away from dressing their maximal best. They love being equal recipients of adoration and attention and it’s no longer just about the bride. The collection brings the entire family into focus, enhancing the celebratory spirit.

Embracing Intricate Embroidery and Timeless Design

As for the details, embroideries reign supreme, with Resham threads weaving intricate patterns in a kaleidoscope of colors, while mirrors add glamour and radiance to ensembles. Classics are reinvented – front open jackets with embroideries and sherwanis boasting dramatic borders. The linings are a playground of complexity, featuring intricate prints and finishes that elevate each garment to new heights.

Both labels feature the level of craftsmanship that is always found in the couture atelier of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. From abundant materials to embellishments galore, every garment celebrates festive glamour with Abu Sandeep’s intricate cultural

Wamiqa Gabbi Steals the Show

Wamiqa Gabbi captivated everyone when she opened the show in an Ivory Trail Lehenga from the ‘Botanical Bloom’ line. This piece was beautifully crafted with Resham embroidery using ivory silk threads, pearls, and crystals. She ended the event with an equally stunning appearance in a Red Lehenga from the ‘Bridal Gota’ collection, embellished with Gota, Zardozi, and crystals, embodying the perfect regal bride.

Taha Shah Badussha’s Show-Stopping Looks

Taha Shah Badussha had all eyes on him with his first look: an olive silk tissue long kurta decorated with crystal-encrusted flying birds. This was paired with brocade flared pants that exuded a relaxed yet elegant vibe. In another striking ensemble, he wore brocade pants with a dramatic textile drape and Zardozi embroidery, completed with a matching Zardozi belt, epitomizing luxury.
