Q1. Please tell me a procedure to straighten my hair that will last at least for a month.
There are no natural ways of straightening the hair, with the effect lasting for a month. You can try straightening the hair with a hair dryer. The effect will last till the next shampoo. After washing the hair, while the hair is still damp, divide it in sections. Hold the end of a section with a comb or brush. Holding it straight and slightly downwards, use the hand held dryer to dry the hair. Repeat this with each section. Hold the dryer at least 6 inches away from the hair. Hair straighteners, stylers, tongs and brushes are also available.
Q2. I have dry skin. Suggest a face pack for dry skin. What does face clean up mean?
Mix together one teaspoon each curd and honey, 2 teaspoons oats, one teaspoon ground almonds and rose water. Apply on face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes and wash off after 20 to 30 minutes. It should be a thick paste, which does not drip. You can apply it once or twice a week. Face clean up is done at a salon and involves exfoliation, extraction of blackheads and deep pore cleansing. The skin is also toned. Scrubs and packs are used.
Q3. How to make the knees and elbows fairer?
Take lemon pieces and rub on the knees and elbows daily. Wash off and then apply sesame seed (til) oil and massage it into the skin. You can do this before bath. After bath, apply a cream and massage it into the skin while the skin is still damp. A cream containing lemon and turmeric would be good. You can also mix gram flour (besan) with curd, lemon juice and a little turmeric (haldi) into a paste and apply three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour.
Q4. I am having severe hair loss. It is not hereditary. I wash my hair once in two days.
Apply a non-oily herbal hair tonic daily. Apply pure coconut oil once a week, the night before shampoo. Avoid head massage. Wash the hair twice a week, using very little shampoo and rinse well with water. Have a small bowl of sprouts daily and include fresh fruits, salads, leafy green vegetables, curd, in your diet. Ask your doctor to prescribe Vitamin B-Complex and Vitamin C. Exercise has many benefits. It improves blood circulation to the scalp and reduces stress.
