Summers in India can be unbearable at times, and with the way the climate is changing it is going to be a difficult time to cope with this scorching heat. Summer has just started, and the temperature has already gone above 30ºC in most states and up to 45ºC in cities like Nagpur. Hence, it is a clear indication that mid-summer might be extremely unbearable and It would be a great idea to plan your summer holidays in some hill stations or places where you could get rid of the summer heat and the flesh-burning heatwave.

• Ladakh: Ladakh is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the world. It is a biker’s paradise and the monasteries; monks and the delicious food makes it even more exciting. The best time to visit Ladakh is in the months of March-June, however, you can also visit it in winter if you want to enjoy the thrill of snowfall and difficult terrain. Lakes such as Pangong Tso Lake and Tso Moriri lakes melt during this time and you can witness clear blue skies that add to the scenic beauty of Ladakh. One must also visit the beautiful monasteries such as Likir Monastery, Shey Monastery, and Thiksey Monastery and understand the culture of Ladakh.
• Kashmir: Kashmir is one of the most visited destinations in India, it is rightly known as the Paradise on Earth due to its beautiful landscapes. Chinar trees located in the region change the color of the entire valley during autumn. Lakes contain crystal-clear rivers sourced from the snow-capped mountains. Kashmir remains beautiful throughout the year, but the best time to visit is from March to August. • Gangtok: Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim, situated in the North East region of India. It is a popular tourist destination that gives a glorious view of Mt. Kanchenjunga; the third highest peak in the world. The best time to visit Gangtok is during summers when the temperatures range from 18ºC to 25ºC. The natural beauty is added by the beautiful Tsomgo Lake, Ban Jhakri Falls, Enchey Monastery, Ganesh Tok, and River Tisba; which is the best spot for river rafting.
• Coorg: Coorg also known as Kodagu, is a popular tourist destination in Karnataka. Coorg is famous for its spices, coffee, hilly areas, temples, and awesome weather. Abbey Falls and Mandikeri Fort are some of the famous areas most visited by tourists. You can visit Coorg at any time of year, except monsoon. The temperature in the region ranges from 15ºC to 20ºC, and you also enjoy trekking and river rafting. Also, it is known to be the paradise for adventure lovers.
• Kabini: Kabini is a famous tourist destination in Karnataka rich in varieties of Flora and Fauna and is a must visit place for nature lovers and adventure seekers. It is known as the best wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka and one can spot varieties of bird species, plant species, and animal species. The best time to visit Kabini is anytime other than monsoon as the area experiences heavy rainfall at this time and it is advisable not to visit Kabini from June to September.
