Collaboration for an art Program

Blue-chip art company DAG (formerly Delhi Art Gallery) and Indian restaurant SONA New York enter into an art partnership for an exclusive exhibition of curated works of twentieth century Indian masterpieces entirely from DAG’s New York gallery collection. Marking its debut, the collaboration celebrates a shared appreciation for Indian art and culture with fine art from some of India’s senior-most artists offering collectors and new generations of art enthusiasts a fresh point of view on India’s rich art history in the heart of New York City.

Featured throughout the restaurant and carefully chosen by DAG in association with SONA, on view are important works from the last century by some of India’s most celebrated artists; all available for private purchase. Adorning the walls of SONA is a truly magnificent neo-tantra painting by the pioneer of the style, G. R. Santosh, displayed alongside experimental works by Himmat Shah, an acrylic-and-gold pigment on ivory board by P. Khemraj, an Ambadas abstract, an ink-and-dye on paperwork by Sohan Qadri, multiple paintings by Avinash Chandra, and many others, growing the dialogue between diverse South Asian artists and their eclectic styles.

DAG, with its gallery in Fuller Building in New York, which opened in 2015, believes the gallery’s New York presence ‘helps promote Indian art in a big way’. Though its focus remains art-centric, it has collaborated over important culture[1]and literature-related events as an important ‘Indian’ address in New York. After adorning the walls of the iconic The Pierre in New York with works of art from the DAG collection, DAG now graces Priyanka Chopra’s flagship restaurant, SONA, in New York with paintings from DAG’s flagship gallery in Manhattan.
