RimZim Dadu
When it comes to fabric manipulation, sculpting and cord work, RimZim Dadu has been the master of these techniques for decades. Even better was the combination of her outfits with dazzling natural diamond jewellery. Her collection at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week, presented by the Natural Diamond Council (NDC) continued with the designer’s fashion sensibilities and complementing this prêt wear collection was a unique amalgamation of intricate stories of love and celebratory moments with the enduring sparkle and ageless beauty of modern, elegant natural diamond jewellery. Distinctive and timeless, exquisite natural diamond jewellery has been an integral part of slow fashion, and with this show, called A Sea Of A Million Stories, the NDC brought to life new age craftsmanship in tandem with a celebration of special moments adorned with memorable chronicles.
Centred around the theme of “A Sea Of Million Stories”, the set featured a design collection that highlighted real-life personal stories of romance, triumphs and love, and the role natural diamonds play in these moments like no other.
Showcasing luxury and extraordinary craftsmanship, the designs were adorned with glimmering natural diamond jewellery from renowned jewellers like Amrapali Jewels, Goenka India, AKM Mehrasons Jewellers, DiaColor, Jaipur Gems and Bholasons Jewellery.
The presentation went beyond the conventional runway creating an immersive, intimate and interactive experience, which was also a visual treat. The extravaganza designed by celebrated architect Rajat Sodhi started from the moment people entered the space with a sky full of diamonds engulfed in clouds, ignited by tiny love notes.
With traces of natural elements embellishing the concept, the beauty and expanse of nature inspired the collection. The ripples and waves of the seas, textured riverbeds, tropics and changing skies, drove Rimzim to create the surface texturing for the ensembles. Metallics ruled in shades of blue, and seemed just right when the sun goes down over the horizon. Emerald appeared to add that touch of sartorial chic, while sparkling silver brought in sophisticated glitter and pristine white ensured the monochrome effect was in the limelight. All of this was complemented with diamond jewellery which was inspired by Natural Diamond Council’s upcoming annual trend report, with a combination of new-age cuts, mixed fancy cuts and redefined classics with a twist.

Designer RimZim Dadu said, “It’s thrilling to be back doing physical shows after 2 years. This season I showcased in collaboration with the Natural Diamond council for FDCI X Lakmé Fashion week. It was a very interesting collaboration for us, as this gave us an opportunity to showcase natural diamond jewellery beyond just regular wedding wear when paired with our signature modern sculpted collection. A Sea of Million Stories is the artistic representation of the core ethos of Rimzim Dadu and Natural Diamond Council – ie love and strength.’
