Lakmé Fashion Week and Diamond Producers Association announce winners of the ‘The Real Cut – Season 3’

Six winning natural diamond designers will get to showcase their work at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 in collaboration with well-known fashion designers from the industry

After two successfully celebrated seasons of “The Real Cut”, India’s premier fashion platform for upcoming design talent, Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with Diamond Producers Association has handpicked the winners of the third edition last week in Mumbai. Six jewellery designers emerged as the final winners of ‘The Real Cut – Season 3’ and will get the opportunity to showcase their designs at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 along with fashion designers Ragini Ahuja, Shriya Som and Ridhi Mehra.

The winners – Deepa Agarwal for Sona Chandi Jewellers, Kinnari Shah from Reliance Jewels, Riddhi Shah for B R Designs, Ashraf Motiwala & Team for A S Motiwala, Sourav Hanra for Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers and Subhajit Bag for Senco Gold & Diamonds were handpicked from amongst 59 promising applicants by an esteemed jury from the jewellery and fashion fraternity in Mumbai on 10th January. The winners were evaluated on parameters ranging from quality, innovation, and marketability to originality and ability to take their business to the next level.

The diverse jury comprised Richa Singh – Managing Director at Diamond Producers Association, Edward Lalrempuia – Fashion Consultant, Jaspreet Chandok – Head of Lifestyle business, IMG Reliance, Sangita Kathiwada – founder of Melange and Amyra Dastur- Bollywood Actress.

Richa Singh, Managing Director – India, Diamond Producers Association (DPA), said, “The natural diamond jewellery that we’ve come across this season is not just highly creative, but also crafted keeping the consumer in mind. I was very excited to see how well the natural diamond jewellery designers have married contemporary designs with billion-year-old natural diamonds, and their jewellery will definitely enhance the pret wear collections on the Real Cut runway. Natural diamonds have the unique ability to transcend generations and still remain relevant, making them the perfect epitome of slow fashion.”

A one of a kind initiative, ‘The Real Cut’, was first launched in Summer/Resort 2019, providing a platform to young and emerging natural diamond jewellery designers from across the country associated with leading jewellery retailers, practicing their craft for the past three to eight years to reach the fashion industry globally.

Jaspreet Chandok, Head of Lifestyle business, IMG Reliance, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be back with yet another season of ‘The Real Cut’. The collaboration is a celebration of the best talent in fashion and jewellery design. In its 20th year, Lakmé Fashion Week’s endeavor to support and nurture talent continues to grow, and we are glad to have partners like Diamond Producers Association with us.”

Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 is scheduled to be held between 12th to 16th February at JioWorld Garden BKC,Mumbai
