In a monumental move towards integrating meditation into global leadership, governance, and societal well-being, the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, inaugurated the Global Conference of Meditation Leaders (GCML) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The conference, held today, marks a significant milestone in advancing the practice of meditation as a tool for peace and prosperity on a global scale.
Meditation: A National and Global Imperative for Well-Being
In his keynote address, Vice President Dhankhar underscored meditation’s profound impact on global well-being. He referred to meditation as “food for the soul,” emphasizing its role in fostering peace and harmony. Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, he urged the audience to follow the path of spiritual growth with the call: “योगी भव” (Become a Yogi). The Vice President also highlighted India’s role in promoting meditation worldwide, particularly with the United Nations’ recognition of World Meditation Day and the G20’s vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

Integrating Meditation into Global Policy and Governance
A key outcome of the GCML was the formulation of a resolution calling on global governments to adopt meditation as a core component of national policies. The resolution emphasizes the integration of mindfulness in education, healthcare, corporate leadership, and governance, laying out actionable steps for national development.
Daaji, a prominent figure in meditation leadership, spoke on the need to transform the subtle aspects of the human body—mind, intellect, and ego. He passionately shared, “True spiritual evolution requires transforming the subtle body,” which he believes meditation can achieve. Dr. H.R. Nagendra highlighted the scientific basis for meditation, with research from S-VYASA University demonstrating its positive effects on both mental and physical health.
The Evolution of Meditation Practices: “Many to Many” Approach
Dr. Newton Kondaveti shared insights into the evolution of the Guru-to-Disciple tradition, highlighting how Brahmarshi Patriji’s “Many to Many” model has democratized access to meditation worldwide, ensuring millions can benefit from its life-changing practices.
A Call for Global Adoption of Meditation
Echoing the Prime Minister’s vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, Dr. D.R. Kaarthikeyan called on governments globally to embrace meditation as a cornerstone of national well-being. He stated, “With the blessings of great masters, we appeal to all governments to adopt meditation for holistic development.”
The Road Ahead: Meditation as a National Movement
Concluding the event, the Vice President called for a national movement to make meditation an integral part of India’s culture and governance. He introduced the concept of Pratyahara—the practice of turning inward—and emphasized that just as we put our phones away, we must also train our minds to withdraw from distractions.
He concluded his address with a timeless prayer:
“सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः । सर्वे सन्तु निरामया। सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चित् दुःखभाग् भवेत्।।
(May all be happy, may all be free from illness, may all witness auspiciousness, may none suffer.)”
Scientific Approach to Meditation: A Holistic Experience
The conference highlighted the scientific basis of meditation and its holistic benefits. Chandra Pulamarasetti, founder of Buddha-CEO, kicked off the event with a compelling talk demonstrating how meditation is both scientifically proven and simple to adopt.
