Frederique Constant revisits its most iconic collection

One big family under one name: Classics. Through this unique family name, Frederique Constant has not only breathed new life into classic watchmaking but given concrete expression to its founding mission: to make luxury timepieces accessible to as many people as possible. Today, this iconic collection is reaffirming its timeless charm with a more modern, stronger, more contemporary design.

Soft lines and balanced shapes, moderation and solid watchmaking mechanics; the Classics collection sums up the spirit of Frederique Constant. Embracing feminine and masculine creations, the modern and traditional. It has established itself as an all-important pillar of the Geneva-based manufacture.

Whether barrel-shaped, round or rectangular, the Classics share some common hallmarks. In particular their fondness for Roman numerals, sleek styling and predominantly guilloché dials revealing everyday complications: date, day, month and chronograph among the most common, moonphase and week among the more unusual.

Modern and dynamic

Frederique Constant revisits its most iconic collection

The updated 2021 editions now form part of a livelier. And more contemporary dynamic, while preserving their timeless and elegant design.

To this end, Frederique Constant has done significant work, allowing three variations of its Classics to return to centre stage. A total of 11 new versions are already available to revitalise this key collection.

Classics Index Automatic: modern sleek

This is the most nourished and renewed range within the Classics collection, with five new models. The overall spirit: more modern, dynamic, understated and contemporary creations. Two-part guilloché dials have been replaced by plain matt blue, white or black dials. Roman numerals have given way to the modernity of applied hour markers, bevelled and tinged with luminescent material. Hands that were slender and tapered are now sword-shaped, showcasing stronger and bolder geometric lines.

Considered one of the fundamental materials in watchmaking, steel adorns four of the 40 mm diameter cases, the fifth being rose gold-plated with blued steel hands. Each variation is powered by the automatic FC-303 calibre, offering a power reserve of 38 hours. And complemented by a nubuck-finish leather strap in brown, black, or blue. With the exception of the “full steel” model, which features a blue dial and a coordinating steel bracelet.

Owing to their very competitive pricing, these creations represent the most affordable access to mechanical watchmaking by Frederique Constant. Complete with authentic automatic Swiss Made movements.

Leaving the job to start your own business in a pandemic? Keep these five things in mind

By Anuj Mundra

The covid-19 pandemic has changed the world altogether. There is hardly any sector that has not faced the impact of a corona virus wave. The lockdown-related restrictions left many of us with no other option but to stay indoors so that the spread of corona virus can be curtailed. And we can save as many lives as possible. But, one of the blessings in disguise of the Covid-19 pandemic is that it gave us much more time to think. Contemplate and ponder about doing something creative and new.

That we have been waiting for very long but unfortunately. Or somehow didn’t get enough time to act in that direction. One such area for many of us was leaving our current job. And giving a shot at the long-cherished dream of starting your own business. So, if you are one of those who are giving serious thought to quitting your existing job. And planning to put your best foot forward to start your own venture. Here are the top 5 things to keep in mind:-

1: Business model

There is a saying that money makes the world go round. Hence, it is extremely important to keep money aspects in mind. One must carve out a solid and comprehensive roadmap about how revenue is going to come in the future once you start your own business.

2: Availing start-up funding benefits from government

Professionals setting out to start a business of their own must do thorough research work on what the government is providing in terms of funding. Exemptions, rebates, and other benefits with respect to the promotion of floating startups. There is no harm if you can get some boost initially from the government even before the startup is launched. This can be a real win-win situation.

3: Future prospects

Whatever sector or domain or industry you are focussing on for your own venture. Always make a detailed plan on what are its future prospects. It is highly advisable that you should choose a business domain or industry which is expected to flourish in the future.

4: Pandemic lessons

Covid-19 has taught us many lessons related to various aspects of life – health, family, finance, well-being, and many more. But, one of the biggest lessons that the Covid-19 pandemic taught us was that savings. And liquid money in the account are extremely important aspects in life when you face an unprecedented crisis like coronavirus and the flow of money should never be disturbed. Hence, taking this point into consideration, choose a business wherein you can save as much money as you can. And revenue books should also stay fit and fat.

5: Expansion model

Even before you launch the initial phase of your new venture, an expansion model should always be ready in place. It has been noticed that start ups launched with an expansion model do fairly well in terms of monetisation and revenue generation.

Therefore, if all these points are well taken care of even before you start your business. That will be half the battle won.

Incredible Benefits of Castor Oil

 By Dr. Blossom Kochhar

We all must have seen people using castor oil in multiple ways. From hair care to treating arthritis, castor oil has so many properties that can benefit hair, skin, joint pain, body ache, feet care, etc. Castor oil is extracted from castor beans. It can be used as per its composition. It can be consumed, used for hair and skincare, used in pharmaceuticals and others. Also it is thick in texture and rich in moisturisation, hence, it should be used in small quantities or as recommended by experts. Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Castor Oil is an ideal and multi-purpose oil. It can be used for the benefits of the face, hair and body as well.

Let’s understand the various uses of castor oil with benefits:

For Face

Moisturiser: After cleaning the face, always apply a moisturiser, as moisturisation is the only key to healthy skin. Take 1 to 2 drops of castor oil, spread it on fingertips and apply all over the face and neck. Alternatively, it can be mixed with daily moisturiser and applied.

Lip Balm: To prepare a perfect lip moisturiser with castor oil, take some amount of beeswax, 1 tablespoon of castor oil, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1/2 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and mix well. Apply it every morning and night or whenever required. This will help to keep the lips moisturised, hydrated and naturally pink.

Remove Dark Spots: Take a few drops of castor oil and an equal number of drops of coconut oil. Mix well and apply to the affected area on the face. Castor oil with coconut oil works best to remove dark spots. This can be applied to dark circles as well.

Eye Care: Puffiness of the eyes or swelling can be treated with castor oil. Take a few drops of castor oil on the palm or in a bowl and take one earbud. Apply it on the area around the eyes with an earbud or using a ring finger, massage gently in a circular motion. This will enhance blood circulation and relax the eyes. The same can be used on the eyebrows for healthy growth.

Anti-Aging Solution: It is the purest and easiest way to deal with anti-aging. Since it keeps the skin moisturised with regular use, this can help to keep the wrinkles and fines line away. It is also suitable to treat blemishes and premature aging.

For Hair

Hair Fall Treatment:To prevent hair fall and promote hair growth, apply castor oil to the scalp and on hairs. Castor oil is thick in texture which can make it difficult to apply. Take 1 tablespoon of castor oil or more depending upon the hair length and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Heat the oil slightly and massage with it onto the scalp and all over the hair. Apply it twice a week. This will help in preventing hair fall, strengthening roots, and will also promote hair growth.

Dandruff and Dryness: To protect the hair together from dandruff and dryness, castor oil can work best. Take some castor oil as per the hair length, mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in it and add a few drops of Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Flaky Hair Oil in it. Mix well and apply the mixture onto the scalp and hair. This will help to control dandruff, relieve itchy scalp, and balance the pH level of the scalp.

For Body

Joint Pain or Arthritis: Castor oil has ricinoleic acid that helps to reduce swelling and pain. It can also treat arthritis. To relieve joint pain and arthritis, take some oil and heat it. Apply it over the pain area and massage for a few minutes. Use a hot pack after massaging so that oil can be absorbed deeply into the skin layers and a heat pack can also relax the muscles.

Body Massage: Body Massage can keep the body relaxed, prevent stress, and can also relieve the body from any pains or muscle stiffness. For the body massage, take some castor oil and add a carrier oil to it. Any essential oil like rose or lavender can also be added, to stop stress and anxiety. Use this mixture for body massage.

Black fungus among kids: What should do to protect them?

 By Dr Jesal Sheth

The second wave of COVID19 has left a devastating mark on the lives of millions of Indians. The battle is still on and we are worried. And anxious about the third wave, and the possible disruption it will cause.  Most experts believe that the third wave will greatly impact children. The epidemiological pattern of the pandemic too indicates the same. The first wave severely impacted people above 60yrs. The second wave affected the younger generation. And now as most adults are either infected or vaccinated. It is expected that children may be at a higher risk in the coming months.

What’s more worrying is that the virus is mutating in such a way that it completely weakens the immune system. Causing added infections as the Black, White, and Yellow fungus – the ‘Black fungus’ having caused the maximum collateral damage. With these added dangers, it is natural for parents to be extremely worried about their kids. Here is what you should know about the black fungus and how to protect your kids.

DOES BLACK FUNGUS AFFECT KIDS?

Mucormycosis, also known as the ‘Black Fungus’, is a rare kind of fungal infection which has been recently seen in severe COVID19 patients. The disease is often characterized by hyphae growing in and around blood vessels and can be potentially life-threatening in diabetic or severely immunocompromised individuals. Mucormycosis frequently infects the sinuses, brain, or lungs. While infection of the oral cavity or brain is the most common form of Mucormycosis, the fungus can also infect other areas of the body such as the gastrointestinal tract, skin, and other organ systems.

Experts suggest that patients who either have compromised immunity or diabetics are more likely to develop the Black fungus infection. As compared to adults, children are less likely to have Diabetes or an immunocompromised immunity, which is why they are less prone to any form of fungal infection caused during COVID19 infection. However, recent reports have suggested rare cases of Mucormycosis or Black fungus infection in children too.

SYMPTOMS THAT YOU SHOULDN’T IGNORE:

If in case your kid has developed a Black fungus infection, it is important that you pay attention to the symptoms, to prevent the complications that may follow.

  • Headaches and swelling in the forehead
  • Swelling in the one side of the face
  • Black crusts around the nose
  • Blurred vision or vision loss
  • Respiratory complications such as chest pain, cough, shortness of breath

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS?

Frequent washing of hands and sanitizing before touching your eyes, nose, and mouth is crucial during such times. The first step is to educate our children about the pandemic, its risk factors, hygiene practices and ask them to follow all the precautionary measures. Encourage them to stay indoors and avoid having visitors at home. The virus spares no one, therefore, is important that you do not send kids outdoors to play. Rather engage them in indoor games. Use this time to engage them in reading books, helping with household chores, gardening, and spending time with family members. Make sure your child wears a mask whenever he or she has company and goes out to play.If left unattended, children may touch contaminated or infected surfaces and objects, which may lead to an infection. To avoid that make sure your children wash their hands regularly.

Moreover, early detection and timely treatment is key. if your child is diagnosed with Mucormycosis, then the treatment involves antifungal medicines along with surgery, based on the clinical condition. Do not ignore symptoms and consult your doctor when in doubt. Timely action is of paramount importance.
