OUR LOVE OF TEA

#TEASOCIETYCALLEDINDIA AN INITIATIVE BY SOCIETY TEA @KALA GHODA ARTS FESTIVAL 2020

Society Tea is all set to showcase their first ever visually appealing and extremely engaging installation #TEASOCIETYCALLEDINDIA, at the 21st edition of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival from 1st February 2020 to 9th February 2020 in Mumbai. If there is one thread that binds us unequivocally as a nation, no matter what our differences may be, one ritual that truly symbolizes ‘unity in diversity’, and one common language that transcends regional distinctiveness, it is ‘our love of tea’. This is the core theme presented through the installation.

Celebrating the unifying and proudly home-grown tea drinking culture across the length and breadth of our country, Society Tea’s wonderful human interest #TEASOCIETYCALLEDINDIA installation aptly depicts this culture via a photo essay series.  An amalgamation of images, this installation captures the ultimate societal truth that defines India and Indian-ness, right from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and Meghalaya to Mumbai

  1. Celebrating 20 years of LFW

The opening show pays tribute to the Gen Next designers who have been the pulse of Lakmé Fashion Week. There will also be a unique walk-through commemorating LFW’s 20th anniversary. Designer Duo Rimple & Harpreet Narula Styles & Designs

Former Miss India Simran Kaur Mundi & Gurickk Maan

Former Miss India Simran Kaur Mundi & Gurdas Maan’s son Gurickk Maan, were seen here with Designers Rimple and Harpreet, for their Anandkaraj ceremony at the The Baradari Palace Patiala.

Both Simran and Gurickk have a deep rooted sense of pride and love for the rich cultural heritage that they hail from, and were keen on imbibing the same in their wedding trousseau. Gurrickk wanted the look and feel of the main wedding outfits to harken back to the golden age of the Punjab Royals (a subject that is very close to Harpreet as well).

Simran’s wedding lehenga is an amalgamation of various crafts found spread across undivided Punjab as well as certain areas of Rajasthan. The handcrafted olive toned ghaghra features motifs referenced from an archival textile, and the embroideries were done using resham and dabka zardozi, gota-patti, pearls, hand cut crystals and semi-precious stones. It was paired with deep burgundy silk velvet kalidar kurti and the look was completed with a traditional odhni  ~ Harpreet

Gurrick wanted an understated yet elegant and rich look for the wedding. After much deliberation he opted for an earthy mustard hued angrakha kurta. The paneled kurta was crafted out of a vintage fabric, and the motifs and embroidery were derived from a vintage muslin bodice (possibly from the Patiala province ) . The look was completed with an embroidered cummarbandh and hand printed pagri and palla in shades of aqua blue.

Quick Spring 2020 Make-up Trends & Ideas by expert Aashmeen Munjaal

As the weather changes from winter to spring the new collection of 2020 make-up trends are increasing in demand nowadays. This year the overall ideas of the beauty industry is about mixing and matching. Whether it comes to your hair, lips eyes, and nails. Similarly, this season the make-up color is inspired by the theme of blossoming flowers in the garden.

Spring 2020 Face Color: As per the trend, the face colours are in vogue. As the spring season comes in the metallic shade goes out because metallic is more of the solid colours more of the heavy metals which is meant for the winters. Whereas, in spring floral are in fashion. Basically, a garden colour. So for your face, this season is all about floral vibes.

Spring 2020 Hair Color: Most of the colours inspired in your hair are blossom cherry colour, or for the rose gold colour, even you can go with fuchsia colour. Even people nowadays are looking for more of spring-based hair colour.

Spring 2020 Eye Color: Instead of using plain eye with black colour or brown colour. This is the time to explore your eyes with chirpy blues, greens. Including purple eyeliners. These are the shades on your eyes. Even the shading of the orchid colour is very much in trend this spring. Similarly, for your cheekbones more of the peach and pink are in to enjoy, instead of the bronzers or the browns.

Spring 2020 Lip Colors: Even on your lips, the florescent bright colours, like you can go ahead with ruby red, rose red also tangerine red colour. Orange, fuchsia, and magenta are the other options that can give you a mind-blowing spring look.

Spring 2020 Nail Colors: Well, let us not ignore the beauty of our nails. Instead of using any exact metallic colour. This spring we can mix and match a few combinations of floral colours by multi colouring the shades, like putting dull red, pink on the other nail and same goes with orange. On the theme of gardening, your nails can be a bouquet. Let’s not be monotonous. Even you can try the dual colour on your lips as this is the time of freshness.

OBEETEE unveils Raghavendra Rathore’s magnificent series

‘Proud To Be Indian’

OBEETEE, the leading manufacturer of hand-knotted and hand-tufted rugs in India, has collaborated with designer Raghavendra Rathore for the launch of its third ‘Proud to Be Indian’ (PTBI) series. PTBI is a unique concept that showcases high-end boutique pieces, put together by India’s leading fashion designers. The initiative was led by OBEETEE’s distinguished design team and supported by India’s leading couturiers.

OBEETEE’s vision to introduce the incredible Indian craft to the rest of the world will see the coming together of India’s leading designers to display royal couture floor coverings that have never been woven before. While Raghavendra Rathore is designing the third edition, the previous two editions, were conceptualized by fashion czars Tarun Tahiliani and Abraham &Thakore respectively.

Talking about the concept, Rudra Chatterjee, Chairman, OBEETEE said, “These regular collaborations with pre-eminent Indian designers help us explore fresh palettes as well as set trends that are grounded in contemporary design sensibilities yet, are true to the Indian ethos that OBEETEE stands for. It’s like holding up a canvas of historical influences and rich textile wisdom that is so intrinsic to India, yet all laid out with a healthy nod to modern techniques and structures.”

Adding further on the partnership, Angelique Dhama, Chief Marketing Officer, OBEETEEsaid “OBEETEE has been proudly preserving handmade luxury that echoes India’s culture and heritage. We are elated that RaghavendraRathore, a name synonymous with old-world aesthetics and regal grandeur, has designed our third series of these India-inspired rugs. The framework of this collection is based on three design structures-‘Durbar Gaadi Masand’, Rajasthan Architecture and‘Jodhpur Coat of Arms’. These carpets have royal appeal with Indian soul.”

Rathore’s creations have always been renowned for the sumptuous scale of history, heritage and traditional vocabulary of design and craft embedded in them. However, for OBEETEE’s PTBI collection, he has dived even deeper into the royal grandeur that epitomizes Rajasthan, spending nearly five years working on the designs. Talking about the collection, Raghavendra Rathoresaid“The collection epitomises old-world luxury and has the essence of a bygone era. The Marwar region, specifically Jodhpur, is the core inspiration for all ideas and vision behind the look and feel of these carpets. We have experimented heavily with paisleys, asymmetrical designs and unusual patterns to create unique design sensibilities taking references from the past.”

Rathore’s collection has taken shape over many drafts that bear resolute testimony to his signature—and hyper-obsessive—attention to detail. A member of the royal family of Jodhpur, the distinguished designer, has explored motifs, colors and patterns that are not just emblematic of his aristocratic lineage but are also finely nuanced with timeless lore. The jaw-dropping craftsmanship is vibrant with exquisite embroidery, intricate weaves and asymmetrical designs—all tirelessly put in place by weavers from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.

On his part, Rathore felt drawn to the standards of excellence that OBEETEEstands for. “OBEETEE carpets blend traditional carpet-making skills with modern techniques to create masterpieces that are Persian in genesis, Indian in essence and international in their appeal,” he says. “The brand’s vision to introduce the incredible wealth of Indian craft to the world was the propelling factor for this association, as we have the same work module. This Proud to be Indian collection encapsulates all the old-world aesthetics and grandeur that is synonymous with brand RR. The collaboration is a perfect step to give Indian handcrafts a new boost, representation and platform globally.

Rathore’s collection offers three variants, each with its unique background. The ‘Durbar Gaadi Masand’, rendered with opulent embroidery in velvet, derives inspiration from the textured royal sette used by kings and queens in darbars of yore. The artwork in ‘Rajasthan Architecture’, on the other hand, borrows inspiration from the majestic arches and structural design elements—including mirror work and brightly painted religious figures—of the Sheesh Mahal in Mehrangarh Fort. The third variant, ‘Jodhpur Coat of Arms’, is an offbeat showcase of logos, emblems, insignias and monograms of Rajput princely states and jagirs.
