Paris Mon Amour

Where Parisian Romance Meets Indian Craft

Payal Jain brought the glamour of Paris to Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI with her collection, “Paris Mon Amour.” Inspired by the effortless style of Parisian men and women, Payal translated her years in the City of Light into silhouettes that were breezy, sophisticated, and unmistakably chic.

The runway opened with a slinky, confident entry from Nitibha Kaul, clad in an all-white embroidered ensemble — pants, a delicate bikini top, crocheted shawl, and matching overlay — setting the tone for a collection that married French elegance with Indian artistry.

Fabrics told their own story: Banaras Katruan cotton adorned with delicate floral Zari, ivory mulmul enriched with Chikankari, Phanda, and murri motifs, and layered lace appliqués accented with tonal beadwork. Fringe detailing in denim added an unexpected, contemporary twist.

Silhouettes varied with playful precision: eggshell Chanderi and mulmul blouses paired with indigo denim minis, wraps, and shorts; oversized gilets and jackets made a bold, fashion-forward statement; crochet jumpers and shirt dresses were cinched at the waist with floral belts or scarves, balancing ease and refinement. Accessories, from oversized raffia totes to layered chains, lace gloves, and crochet jackets, elevated the styling, while impossibly high stilettos completed the Parisian-inspired story.

The ever-radiant Mandira Bedi brought her own vibrancy to the runway in a white, heavily embellished gown, paired with a sheer, trailing scarf that glided sensuously with every step.

“During my many trips to Paris, I was inspired by the beauty and style of Parisian men and women, which I have incorporated in ‘Paris Mon Amour,’” Payal Jain shared, anchoring the narrative in her lived experience.

With “Paris Mon Amour,” Payal Jain captured the city’s romance and joie de vivre on the Indian runway — a perfect interplay of freedom, nostalgia, and fashion.
