“Beauty is in the Eyes of Beholder”

Celebrity makeup artist Aanchal Chugh on the future of the beauty industry, lockdown, beauty tips, and more…

  • The social lockdown has caused all fields of business to take a hit. How do you think the makeup business has been affected?

The beauty industry is changing rapidly in response to the corona virus pandemic. Many makeup artists, hairstylists, lash artists, and more are without work because of cancellation in weddings and events.

  • You’ve always kept yourself busy with makeup assignments and workshops. How has the lockdown affected you and your work?
To be very honest, the lockdown has given me enough time to work on my speed, techniques, and creativity as we all know practice brings perfection. Personally, the lockdown has taught me a lot of other things such as being responsible, self-care, and sunsets are beautiful.
  • What do you think is the future of makeup artists in India?
India is the country of big fat weddings and festivals, and we all prefer to get dressed and look at our best. So the makeup industry is a helping hand and is deeply involved in all these events and the future of makeup and beauty industry has a lot of scope.
If you’re a makeup artist you have enormous openings to theatre, television, movies, events, weddings, fashion weeks, etc.
  • What steps are you taking to adapt to the new world to ensure that your work routine returns back to normalcy?
By taking all safety measures from understanding and practising social distancing and the importance of sanitizing my products, brushes, tools, studio, and vanities. Wearing PPE KIT while working so that things start getting back to normal..

  • Have you discovered or invented any new makeup trends through the lockdown?

Yes, I’ve discovered new techniques for a pulled out smokey eye also soft        contour and by using 3 products created a quick office look.

  • The best makeup tip ?
Hydrate your skin well before applying the foundation. Also fixing the base after done helps makeup last longer.
  • One beauty advice you swear by?
I think following CTM every day works wonders on one’s skin. That is cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.
  • Your definition of beauty?
As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And for me, giving that minimalistic touch adds beauty to everything.
