10 Fabulous Pride Events to Experience in San Francisco
Hunky Jesus and Foxy Mary Costume Contest
Easter Sunday, 2027
One of San Francisco’s most delightfully unconventional traditions, the Hunky Jesus and Foxy Mary Costume Contest has entertained crowds since 1979. Hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the event transforms Dolores Park into a lively stage for creative, humorous interpretations of religious imagery. Participants simply arrive in costume and join the festivities, while spectators soak up the atmosphere from the park’s famous hillside, complete with sweeping views of the city skyline and Bay Bridge. Whether competing or simply enjoying the spectacle, it offers a uniquely San Franciscan way to celebrate Easter.

SF Giants Pride Day
June 2026
Baseball and Pride come together during SF Giants Pride Day, an annual celebration that highlights the team’s longstanding connection with its LGBTQ+ fan community. The day typically begins with special pre-game ceremonies featuring notable queer artists, activists, and performers, followed by the raising of Pride flags across the ballpark. Players take the field in special-edition Pride jerseys while fans gather for one of the season’s most spirited games. Beyond the celebrations, visitors can enjoy one of America’s most scenic ballparks, overlooking McCovey Cove, where kayakers wait hopefully for home-run balls to splash into the bay.

Frameline Film Festival
June 17–27, 2026
As the world’s longest-running LGBTQ+ film festival, Frameline remains one of San Francisco’s most anticipated cultural events. Since 1977, it has showcased groundbreaking stories from queer filmmakers across genres, including feature films, documentaries, shorts, and experimental cinema. Screenings take place at the historic Castro Theatre, whose ornate Art Deco interiors and legendary Wurlitzer organ add a sense of grandeur to every viewing experience. Beyond the films themselves, audiences can engage with directors and actors through panel discussions, Q&A sessions, and glamorous festival receptions.

Fresh Meat Festival
June 19–21, 2026
Dedicated to emerging queer and transgender artists, Fresh Meat Festival celebrates innovative performance across dance, music, theatre, and spoken word. Produced by Fresh Meat Productions since 2002, the event highlights creators who challenge artistic and cultural boundaries. San Francisco Pride Weekend is the city’s largest and most visible LGBTQ+ celebration. The centrepiece is the iconic Pride Parade, where hundreds of colourful floats, community groups, businesses, and organisations march through downtown streets before culminating at Civic Center. The festivities, however, extend far beyond Sunday’s parade. The weekend also includes the nationally recognised Trans March and the beloved Dyke March, both of which showcase the city’s commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and community solidarity. Across the city, concerts, parties, cultural events, and street celebrations create an atmosphere unlike any other.
