RECAST
Pawan Sachdevaa presented RECAST, Recasting the Familiar. Redefining the Modern Silhouette, at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI 2026, exploring how Indian craftsmanship can find new expression through contemporary menswear. Drawing on techniques such as Bandhani, Shibori, Kasuti and Kantha, the collection reinterpreted traditional textile practices through the language of denim, workwear, urban dressing and modern tailoring. Kala Cotton Khadi, Khadi Silk, Matka Silk, Habutai Silk, Bouclé and Denim came together in a considered play of texture and structure, rawness and refinement. Structured jackets, relaxed tailoring, utility separates, coats, shirts and fluid trousers formed a versatile wardrobe, enhanced by natural dyeing and treatments including acid wash, enzyme wash, stone wash and ombré. Moving through indigo, ecru, black and mustard, the collection balanced the organic character of traditional materials with the precision of contemporary construction. As Sachdevaa envisioned it, heritage is not static; it continues to evolve when given new context.
