Zoya,  luxury jewellery brand from the House of Tata partners with Gauri Khan-to virtually launch ‘Rooted’ collection themed around “Inner Strength” Inspired by verdant motifs of the rainforest, the line features fusion-style designs including cocktail rings, yard chains, torques, hoops, cuffs, drop earrings, and bangles.

In a tell all interview, Gauri Khan the Celebrity Designer and Entrepreneur speaks to  RetroPop Lifestlye  about her association with Zoya.

·        Your association with Zoya?

I have been associated with Zoya for a few years now. I launched their boutique in Delhi a couple of years ago, and I am now launching their new festive collection.

·        Why do you like Zoya jewellery?

Zoya is all about inspired design and fine craftsmanship. As a designer I appreciate their aesthetic and am happy to be associated with the brand.

·        What do you like the most about this collection?

It’s a colourful, vibrant and spirited collection. The collection is all about inner strength and its motifs are inspired by the rainforest, its exotic birds, colourful flowers, trees, vines and more. It uses beautifully carved and coloured stones like pink and green tourmalines, blue and yellow sapphires, peridots, emeralds and of course diamonds. And the craftsmanship is lovely!

·        Your favourite pieces?  On what occasions would you like to wear and how would you coordinate with your overall looks?

The collection is very versatile. There are pieces that would suit formal and informal looks. I like necklaces because they are bold and in your face. Today I’m wearing a necklace called the Light of the Rainforest and styling it formally with a gown from Gaurav Gupta.  I’m told the necklace is inspired by the light of the sun filtering through the leaves of a dense canopy of leaves. This is nice image, especially since I love nature. This necklace has a very modern silhouette and feels flexible and fluid. The segmentation is also clearly done with keen precision and the craftsmanship is gorgeous.

·        How would you describe your style when it comes to selecting jewellery pieces?

Classic and minimalistic

·        What, according to you, are the dos and don’ts for work wear jewellery?

Keep it simple and uncluttered. Wear one eye catching piece – if you have a bold necklace, skip the earrings.

·        What comes first, the jewellery or the outfit?

It could be either way.

·        Jewellery Faux pas?
Don’t always try and wear everything. Be selective and let the pieces stand out.

·        Shopping haunts?
My shopping addiction is everything to do with interiors, so it’s everywhere – from trade fairs of Milan and Paris to the flea markets of London.

·        Gauri Khan Signature Look

Jeans and a linen shirt – you can dress it up or down

·        Who has been your inspiration?

My mother

·        What is fashion/style according to you?

Fashion is a trend that comes and goes, style is lasting
