IIFA Awards 2027 Will Stream Live Worldwide on YouTube for the First Time
The 27th edition of IIFA Weekend & Awards returns to Etihad Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, on 22–23 January 2027, and this year the red carpet extends to every screen on the planet.
For twenty-six years, the International Indian Film Academy Awards have been an invitation-only kind of glamour, a night of couture and camera flashes that most of the world experienced secondhand. That changes in January. IIFA has announced a landmark partnership with YouTube that will see the IIFA Awards 2027 stream live worldwide, the first time an Indian-origin entertainment event of this scale has taken its main ceremony to a global video platform in real time.
The announcement arrives as tickets officially go on sale for the two-day celebration at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena, and it reframes what IIFA is. What was once a ceremony to be watched becomes, in the organisers’ words, a cultural moment to be shared.
A Partnership Built for the Fandom Era
The livestream is the headline, but the collaboration reaches well beyond the show itself. YouTube will host an always-on IIFA experience in the weeks surrounding the event, from celebrity conversations and creator-led storytelling to behind-the-scenes access across formats, designed to keep the conversation alive long after the final award is handed out.
Gunjan Soni, Managing Director for India at YouTube, framed the tie-up as a natural fit. “Indian cinema has a passionate, borderless fandom, and YouTube is where that global community comes together every day to connect with the stories and stars they love,” she said. “Welcoming IIFA to YouTube marks a defining moment, as one of Indian cinema’s most iconic celebrations finds its global digital home.” The ambition, she added, is to combine the glamour of cinema with YouTube’s participative culture so that fans can “experience, share, and participate in” IIFA together.
Abu Dhabi, Fourth Time Around
This will be IIFA’s fourth showcase on Yas Island, and the relationship between the academy and the emirate has clearly matured into something closer to a residency. Andre Timmins, Founder and Director of IIFA Weekend & Awards, was effusive about the return.
“Every new chapter of IIFA has been driven by one ambition, to take the magic, emotion and extraordinary power of Indian cinema to the world. In 2027, that ambition becomes bigger than ever,” he said. “Abu Dhabi has embraced IIFA, our film fraternity and our audiences with extraordinary warmth, and together we have created some truly iconic moments. This IIFA, we want to raise that bar again, bigger stars, bigger experiences, deeper fan engagement and a celebration that reaches far beyond the arena.”
Timmins also credited the partners underpinning the edition, Sobha Realty, YouTube and ZEE, and described 2027 as “an exciting new era” for the academy. “Indian cinema has never been more global, its stars never more influential and its audiences never more connected,” he said. “IIFA 2027 will celebrate that moment, bringing the world together through the incredible power of Indian cinema.”
Planning the Weekend
Anyone considering the trip should note that IIFA weekends on Yas Island have a way of spilling past the arena walls. The island’s luxury hotels, the waterfront at Yas Bay and the after-parties that follow the main ceremony are as much a part of the experience as the show, and with the livestream drawing a global audience, the in-person crowd is likely to be the most star-studded yet.
