Doordarshan Revives Its Iconic Inspector Bharat
Doordarshan is bringing back one of Indian television’s memorable crime dramas with Suraag 2.0, a new-age revival of the much-loved Inspector Bharat series. The upcoming show brings back Sudesh Berry in his original role, while Sai Ketan Rao and Jigyasa Singh join the new chapter.
The revival also marks a renewed collaboration between Sri Adhikari Brothers and DD National, a partnership closely associated with some of the most recognisable television shows of an earlier era.
With Suraag 2.0, the makers are looking to combine the familiarity of a popular television legacy with a contemporary storytelling approach. The return of Sudesh Berry as Inspector Bharat is likely to appeal to longtime viewers, while the younger cast could help introduce the franchise to a new generation.
The first look has already created interest among television audiences, particularly those who remember the original Suraag and its distinctive place in the history of Indian crime television. The reboot arrives at a time when nostalgia-driven revivals are finding renewed attention, offering audiences a chance to reconnect with familiar characters while experiencing them through a modern lens.
Suraag 2.0 is therefore positioned as more than a simple return of a classic. It represents Doordarshan’s attempt to revisit a well-known television property while giving it a fresh identity for today’s viewers.
