“Open” to interpretation
FDCI launches a new space, Open, to nurture design ideas which evolve into conversation-starters
New Delhi, March 1, 2020: The Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week in association with EbixCash Autumn-Winter 2020, by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) will take place from March 11-15, 2020, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
This year, the FDCI is introducing a new space, aptly titled, “Open”, where the velvet ropes have been removed, opening its doors to anyone in the fraternity, in an attempt to foster new ideas. Here concepts will be celebrated, and different perspectives lauded making it an area for conversation, resulting in multiple inspirations. Different mediums from sound, art, as well as scenography will amalgamate with fashion, ensuring an enabling design narrative.
The interesting line up includes — Milind Soman’s Book Launch, ‘Art Minimal’ by Bobo Calcutta, where wearable art is showcased and Kanika Goyal’s ‘Craving Confetti’ glimpse into the mind of the new generation, which views fashion through the lens of vivid brightness. Lastly, ‘Wayfarer’ by Siddhartha Bansal, pays homage to ‘Chintz’ and its provenance.
“Fashion has an innate ability to bring about an effective change in what we see around us, as it’s greatly influenced by social, cultural and political revolutions, making it thematic in essence. Through ‘Open’ we hope to explore, evolve and contemplate on these stories through diverse forms of communication, making it both challenging and uplifting,” said Chairman FDCI, Sunil Sethi.
