In a new cover story for GQ’s May issue, Badshah speaks about his new album Retro Panda, which he’s releasing in two separate parts and has given credits to The Weeknd as a major influence for this song. He mentioned that his end goal is winning a Grammy, which would be a vindication of not just his own talent but also of Indian music in general.
Further to that he adds that he’s very excited to see a upcoming artist who is a Punjabi Canadian rapper; AP Dhillon, who leaped to the top of the UK Asian charts with his posse cut “Brown Munde” in 2020, following it up with a sold-out six-city Indian tour last year. Badshah also mentioned about he being diagnosed with clinical depression and severe anxiety disorder, and was given prescription meds.
