The 50th anniversary of Natya Tarangini was marked with a certain restraint—one that felt intentional. Held at its amphitheatre in Pushp Vihar, the evening reflected the legacy of an institution that has never relied on spectacle to assert its place. Founded in 1976 by Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy, Natya Tarangini has, over decades, shaped a rigorous and deeply rooted approach to Kuchipudi in the capital.
What unfolded on stage at Raja Radha Rangmanch was not a showcase in the usual sense, but a reflection of continuity. The disciples carried the evening with a quiet confidence—movements precise, expressions considered, and an ease within the form that spoke of years of sustained practice rather than momentary preparation.
There was a noticeable absence of excess. No dramatic overstatement, no attempt to amplify the occasion beyond what it was. Instead, the focus remained on the grammar of the dance itself—its rhythm, its narrative, its discipline. Under the guidance of Bhavana Reddy, alongside the founding gurus, the performances revealed individuality without straying from tradition, a balance that is rarely achieved without depth.
