Manish Malhotra answered ‘Questions No One Asks’
The second edition of the popular discussion “Questions No One Asks” was held at the Central Avenue, JioWorld Garden, BKC during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020.
It was a lively interactive session, this time with the, Bollywood’s popular designer, Manish Malhotra who was in the Haute seat as he answered “Questions No One Asks” put to him by Shefalee Vasudev, Editor, The Voice of Fashion.
Shefalee very ably took Manish through his 30-years film fashion journey then asked him about the glitz of Bollywood and the highs and lows of working with celebrities. Going deeper into the subject, Manish discussed with great honesty about the fashion business. When it came to innovations and industry double speak, Shefalee wanted Manish to give his frank views.
Manish spoke about his love for movies, desire to design and his passion for fashion. Talking about his love for cinema and the importance of moving on and accepting change, he expressed his gratitude for always having been fortunate enough to have formed friendships on personal and professional fronts. Manish emphasised how his honesty had been a building block for most of his friendships.
Finally, it was the hard truth about life behind the glitz and glamour that Shefalee asked Manish about.
Manish informed that the ever-evolving fashion trends, whether it was a causal look of a small-town girl in “Jab We Met” to the transition of massy to classy, the only advice he had was to maintain individuality. He revealed about his ongoing research of three years to approach the mass markets. Manish revealed some important facts about the fashion business as well as designing for Bollywood Divas, which Manish has been doing with great success for the past three decades.
Ending the conversation on an enthusiastic note, Shefalee mentioned how his ability to sustain in a neck-to-neck industry always fascinated her, making him an irreplaceable face of the fashion world.
Questions from the audience came in fast, as they were eager to know the secrets behind the business of fashion from Manish Malhotra.
