 Titled Mirror Me- a collection conceptualized during the pandemic of Covid-19, comprises of separates that are conducive to working from home in relaxed and comfortable fits with crisp construction and attention to detail that lend themselves to “Above the Key Board Dressing” – the new work from home reality. Stemming from emotions like self -introspection, determination and a keen resolve to overcome the obstacles of these times with a stoic attitude of hope and determination rolled together.  This is a sustainable collection – a sum of all of these emotions, layers and reflections.

·        It resonates of a chic, sophisticated, relaxed mood of understated luxury. Cutting edge, yet deceptive in its simplicity.

Payal Jain @ LMIFW SS’21

 Titled– Holy Script’. Collection of free flowy comfort dresses in floral prinrs. The fabrics have been created by weaving clusters in and around Banaras, blends of cotton and silk ‘Chanderi’, Organza and ‘Munga’.

Highlights

Traditional jacquard techniques like ‘Katrauan’, ‘Kadua’ woven in silk yarn float into shear, fluid and flowing silhouettes. The natural, weightless quality of these fabrics depict the lightness of spirit, and emptiness of the soul.

Color Canvas

 The color palette is vivid and vibrant, inspired by traditional Buddhist ‘Thangka’ paintings, in rich hues of Vermillion, Lapis blue, Emerald green and Sulphur yellow, with strokes of painted canvases.

This has been a personal journey introspecting, appreciating life’s beauty, understanding the silence within and emptiness without. 

  Beginning from the Ghats of Benaras, into narrow alleys of Assi Ghat, experiencing the silence of Sarnath, wandering amidst by-lanes of Mc Leod Ganj, and historic Buddhist monasteries adorned with rich and vivid ‘Thangkas’, a sip of salted tea and home baked bread, with soul stirring chanting and reverberating drum beats…..such is the journey that culminated in the ‘Holy Script’.

 This story is woven into the warp of timelessness, the weft of meditative bliss, on a loom of ‘Oneness’ that goes beyond name, religion, tradition and ritual, language and culture; the ultimate sense of Awareness! A place where energy flows from Kashi to Sarnath, Holy rivers to mountains, Tibetan art to Indian textile, where Buddha’s first sermon still resonates, where history and mythology amalgamate, and there is only silence and emptiness.

Titled NAEVUS, the collection is  inspired by the JallianWala Bagh Massacre that occurred on 13th April 1919, under the British Raj.

 Highlights

·         Hints of colonial references fused with military inspired detailing is prominent in the collection.

·         Victorian collars & cuffs, exaggerated sleeves combined with our signature 3D embroidery beautifully amalgamates the bygone era with the present.

·         Artworks done by the designer for the collection are seen as bold prints in the collection.

·        Grunge textures, detailed hand embroideries combined with bold military styling

Bright red hues of the British Army uniforms to soft tones of nude form the colour pallete.

Titled Rebirth, a collection of free flowy comfort outfits.

Since the inception, the brand has been committed to handloom weavers and worked with over 900 weavers and explored 14 different techniques of weaving from various Indian states.

Highlights

Wearable art forms out of handwoven textiles. SS’21 collection is an experience of rebirth. Life began in water and it is here that the sensation of depth and a surreal unknown world lies. The collection builds this in forms of corals, creating a distinct feel of being born again in the slow.

FDCI presents the Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week, Spring-Summer 2021, with DLF Emporio/The Chanakya, as the luxury partner

Taking the plunge, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), presents the first-ever phygital, Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week, spring-summer 2021, with DLF Emporio/The Chanakya as the luxury partner. It is scheduled 

The FDCI, has made a robust blueprint for the future, this includes a studio set up with screens and bespoke lighting, where designers are shooting their fashion films/videos. Alternatively, they can also shoot their own films. These pre-shot films will be streamed across various FDCI digital platforms —— Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the FDCI website. These will play according to a preset show schedule.  

Day One

Rajesh Pratap Singh opens digital  LMIFW SS’21

Titled ‘Fall. ing. 2020″ is an honest representation of the impact of coronavirus on our reality and fashion sensibility.  His unique style has used layering in this line-up which comprises of jackets, shirts, kurtas, dresses in bright pastel hues and classic whites.

Highlights

·        A contemporary edit with bright pastel hues and an extensive use of hand block printing techniques.

·        Handloom, glass cotton proprietory weaves from the textile unit in Neemrana and silk satins comprise the fabrics used in the collection

·        Signature pintuck style in structured silhouettes and his classic whites

Muted tones of grey, green and mustard {depict a world taken by surprise and sadness}

Pristine white (represents eerie resemblance to hospitals and lab coats}

Metallic tones people( depiction of  bereave of the loss of loved ones}

  The film opens on a sad  note .The models are surrounded by oxygen cylinders in a desolate setting,  By the end, the oxygen cylinders are  painted with colorful pictures …the same are the representation of  the artisans and craftsman. Rajesh Pratap  ends his video with a tribute to the karigars. He  pledges to contribute part of the sale proceeds to a CSR Foundation for supporting Indian craftsmen displaced due to the pandemic.
