Post Break up Blues

By Sanjana Bafna Ranka

Breakups, who likes endings, no one right? We don’t like endings; we don’t like to lose things that we have. When a relationship ends because of any reason,it chafes us mentally, emotionallyand makes us physically ill. As a founder of a mental awareness venture and through this article I’d like to talk about some of the most effective things that we all can start doing to heal from a heartbreak. While true healing comes from the things, we all do on a daily basis. Here are some of the things we all can try to make ourselves feel better.

Speak your sorrow away: Reach out to friends or loved ones who can help you get through the break-up. A small gesture of love from them would reassure us that we are not alone. Sometimes a different point of view of the given situation can help us even out our emotions.

Bask in your favorite hobby: It is not that easy to get up and get going after a heartbreak. But it is important to push your limits and try harder every single day. Diverting your mind by indulging in your favorite hobbies can refrain you from beating the dead horse.

Meaningful “me-time”If hobbies don’t fascinate, we can try spending quality time with ourselves. Enrolling to meditation or yoga sessions can bring back the lost spark. It helps in becoming more confident and poise. There are many effective techniques like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Mindfulness, Meditation that have proven to be very effective when dealing with heartbreak. The techniques can help us stay in and cherish the present moment rather than mulling over the past or dreading the future. If not all that, even a simple hair massage can go a long way.

Socialize: Staying at home is going to take us through the same memories over and over again. Dress up and go out often with friends and family.

A welcome change: Make small changes. It could be your wardrobe, apparel or hairstyle, home furnishing. Get yourself a small makeover. A small change can render the somber life a fresh change and make you feel good.

Beware of addictions: Falling for alcohol and drugs has become an easy resort to combat the heartache. These habits are like setting the house on fire for chasing a rat. Even if not that extreme, it could be even binge eating or social media addictions. It is better to be mindful and avoid falling into those habits. Seek professional help: Even after all the effort has been taken, still, if we are unable to get over the turmoil, it is always better to seek professional help. Speak your heart out. It will make you feel refreshed or give you a new unseen perspective.
