Where Spices Sparkle

Zoya’s Her Again Collection Turns India’s Spices Into High Jewelry

Open a tin of spices in a kitchen you grew up in, and you’re somewhere else before you’ve decided to go. Cardamom does it. So does turmeric, with that warm gold that stains your fingertips, and the deep red of mace, and a few threads of saffron melting into something warm. A smell or a color can carry you straight back to a person, a house, or an afternoon you didn’t know you still remembered.

That pull between scent, color and memory is the starting point for Her Again, the new high jewelry collection from Zoya, the luxury jewelry house of India’s Tata Group.

Zoya doesn’t use India’s spices as pretty motifs to scatter across a design. The collection treats them as keepers of memory instead. Their colors set the palette, and their shapes are abstracted into sculptural details, intricate settings and fluid lines. The result is Indian high jewelry that feels rooted in its origins without spelling everything out.

A Palette Drawn From the Spice Box

Rubellite brings intense crimson and pink, emerald slips into the cool green of cardamom, and Madeira citrine glows with the warmth of turmeric and marigold. Orissa rose garnet, golden heliodor and yellow sapphire add further layers of heat and light. It’s an exuberant palette, but a carefully judged one, where every stone holds its own and color leads the story rather than simply decorating it.

Across the collection, these stones are set into sculptural forms inspired by clove buds, unfurling mace and marigolds, often with open-back settings that let light pass through and reveal their depth. The showpieces speak to the scale of the craftsmanship involved. The Amber Bliss necklace is anchored by a magnificent 38-carat Madeira citrine, while the Eternal Ember necklace brings together 748 stones over 2,112 hours of work. Yet what lingers isn’t the numbers. It’s the feeling of turmeric, marigolds, celebration and sunlight, distilled into something entirely new.

A Woman Returning to Herself

At the heart of Her Again is a woman rediscovering herself. This isn’t about nostalgia so much as recovery, a return to the parts of her that may have grown quieter over time: curious and playful, spontaneous and expressive, sensual and self-possessed. It’s an idea that suits jewelry especially well, since so many pieces already carry memory. They are inherited, given, discovered or chosen at a defining moment, and here that emotional charge is built into the design itself.

Anoushka Shankar, Muse

The collection’s muse, sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar, brings her own perspective on heritage and reinvention. She has spent her career moving fluidly between worlds, carrying the depth of her Indian musical inheritance into a creative language that keeps evolving. For her, tradition has never been fixed. It’s something to explore, reinterpret and make personal.

“What I love about Zoya is the way it takes what we inherit and allows it to evolve through color, gemstones and craft,” Shankar says. “You can be deeply rooted in a culture and still speak to the world in a way that feels relevant, simply through the lens of your own experience.”

It’s as fitting a description of the jewelry as it is of her music.

Heritage, Reimagined

What makes Her Again so compelling is its refusal to treat heritage as something confined to the past. India’s visual language has always been extraordinarily rich, but its most interesting modern interpretations tend to emerge when designers start with something instinctive, like a color, a texture or a memory. Here, the spice box is that starting point, transformed through rare gemstones and exacting craftsmanship into jewels that carry the atmosphere of their inspiration without translating it literally.

“India offers an extraordinary source of inspiration for jewellery design, from its rich cultural heritage and vibrant colours to the materials and craftsmanship that have shaped its visual language over centuries. At ZOYA, we see an opportunity to reinterpret these influences through a distinctive design lens, creating High Jewellery where meaning and emotional resonance are as integral as rarity and artistry,” said Arun Narayan, Chief Executive Officer – Jewellery, Titan Company Limited. “Her Again reflects this approach, drawing from India’s richness and diversity while expressing it in a way that is contemporary, personal, and unmistakably our own. Anoushka Shankar embodies this vision through a creative journey that has continually found new and imaginative expressions of her Indian influences, bringing them to global audiences with authenticity and artistic depth.”

Mr. Arun Narayan

Perhaps that’s why the title feels so right. Her Again isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about recognizing someone familiar, and finding that what was beautiful about her was there all along.
