FDCI and New Zealand Fashion Week Forge Historic Global Partnership

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a global platform for designers from India and Aotearoa (New Zealand). This landmark agreement, witnessed by New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Honorable Christopher Luxon and India’s Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, was formalized by Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, and Feroz Ali, Chairman of NZFW.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasized the partnership’s potential to drive sustainable growth in both nations’ fashion industries, stating:
“New Zealand has a growing global reputation in fashion and the creative arts. This collaboration will strengthen ties between our countries and open new avenues for designers.”

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, highlighted the agreement’s significance in fostering global fashion connections:
“We are excited to partner with NZFW and extend our vision for the business of fashion globally. With the continued support of the Indian government, this partnership will create new opportunities for designers in a thriving cross-cultural environment.”

Key Objectives of the FDCI-NZFW Collaboration:

  • Global Exposure for Designers: Joint initiatives will provide Indian and New Zealand designers with access to international platforms, runway shows, and exclusive networking opportunities.
  • Cross-Border Collaboration: The partnership fosters connections between designers, buyers, media, and consumers across global markets.
  • Sustainability Focus: Both organizations will promote circular fashion, encouraging sustainable practices and innovative design.
  • Industry Growth: Strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and investments will be mobilized to drive long-term growth and innovation.
  • Adapting to Change: Designers will receive tools and resources to navigate the evolving global fashion landscape.

The five-year agreement, subject to annual review, aims to promote innovation and sustainability while strengthening cultural and commercial ties. Both institutions will amplify their initiatives through digital platforms to enhance global outreach.

Feroz Ali, Chairman of NZFW, expressed his enthusiasm:
“This collaboration unites two vibrant fashion communities and provides a platform for designers to expand their global reach and foster meaningful industry connections.”

This groundbreaking alliance marks a new era for Indian and New Zealand fashion, empowering designers and elevating both countries on the global fashion map.
