Her latest project ‘The Tranquil Home’ with interior designer Neha Sharma of Chalk Studio maximizes space and skillfully amalgamates style with urban sophistication.

“We decided to call this project ‘The Tranquil Home’ because the design elements infuse a calm and soothing vibe into the overall mood of the home. With clear focus on clean lines and simplicity, the compact space includes a meticulously planned layout which transforms into a comfortable, functional yet stylish décor”, says Priyanka Singh, Founder and Principal Designer of Chalk Studio.

The design of the residence keeps functionality at the centre to create a unified space with an uncluttered vibe. A minimal neutral palette is juxtaposed with statement-making accessories like modern chandeliers, stunning light fixtures and modern art. Priyanka maximised the storage with bespoke built-ins, storage nooks and multifunctional furniture to utilise every available sliver of space.

The front door opens directly into the living room that seamlessly flows into the dining area to form a harmonious decor. The dark grey sofas of the living room are complemented by a pop of pink in the armchair and nesting tables in the centre that does not encroach on the walking space. The TV unit is designed to perfection with staggered cabinets, open shelves and integrates built-in storage. Paired with the 6 seater dining table is a low-height console that doubly functions as a buffer counter.

Each bedroom brings in ample sunshine and is tactfully designed with clean lines, a restrained colour palette and wall-mounted light fixtures. The décor of the master bedroom is enriched with wood-look WPC panelling, a stylish TV unit and two rocking chairs that are perfect for lounging. With an area of less than 100 sft., the guest bedroom looks spacious with abundant use of white and light-wood tones for the flooring. Eye-catching accents add warmth and a sense of whimsy to the décor of the kids bedroom.

The apartment is given spirit and soul with accessories from Gigi and Chakra, Oma, Sarita Handa, Apartment 9 and Bo Concept. Most of the furniture is sourced from Ikea while the rugs are handpicked from Ikea and Rug Republic. Dramatic accents infuse ample doses of charm and add a play of colours to the otherwise muted interiors.

Guru Manish , the founder of Shuddhi Ayurveda, believes that traditional Indian foods need to be adopted to remain healthy. Guru Manish said that the kind of wheat & rice we are eating is genetically modified and these have completely changed. Eating such wheat and rice over a prolonged period of time at all meals of the day , is impacting on height gain of children, the weight gain is also not happening in the right proportion and sexual diseases have increased. Fertility in women has also gone down. In contrast to wheat and rice Millets have the highest amount of fiber. The fiber content is 1.5 percent in wheat, 0.2 percent in rice, and 12.5 percent in millets. The major reason for stomach diseases, genetic disorders and increase in sugar in India is the excessive use of wheat and rice in food.

Guru Manish further said that instead of wheat and rice, millets like Kangni, Hari Kangni, Sanwa, Kodo and Kutki, can be included in the diet not only to remain healthy, but also to avoid many diseases. These are our basic cereals, while neutral millets include bajra, ragi, gram, jowar and maize. Millets are capable of keeping the body healthy and disease free, because they are rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, protein and minerals etc.
Guru Manish explained that millets or coarse grain crops are natural. Chemicals are not sprayed on them. Their genes have also not been changed. If we include nutritious millets alternately in our diet, the problem of diabetes could be reduced within a week or two, and blood pressure also comes under control within two to four weeks. Serious cancer patients get benefits in two to four months.
Guru Manish said, “Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three conditions in Ayurveda. If someone’s Vata becomes irritable, then joint pain occurs. Violation of Pitta leads to blood infection, liver disease and diabetes. Asthma, shortness of breath, cold, and cough occur when Kapha worsens. Millets are easy to digest and can also improve the level of probiotics in the body.”
Guru Manish has established HIIMS (Hospital and Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences) Nature Care Centers in various cities of North India these include- Derabassi, Zirakpur, Chandigarh, Patiala and Delhi. There is a facility of cashless treatment for government employees. Ayush insurance card holders also get the facility of treatment.

HIIMS Clinics do not provide medicines, but help patients make lifestyle changes to treat various diseases like diabetes, BP, liver, respiratory and kidney problems, and joint pain. Meals prepared from millets are served at the HIIMS Centers. As herbal medicine, a decoction (Kaarha) prepared from Guava, Pipal and Giloy leaves is given to the patients. ‘Role of meditation and mental peace’ for Tihar Inmates

In today’s time, meditation, mindfulness, and thoughtful practices have proved to be the key to fighting the insanity and stress they encounter every day. Addressing the issue, Dr Anju Sharma, a Psychic reformer, Sound & Energy Master, Wellness-Holistic Coach, International Speaker and Founder of the Musical Healing Band named “Sound of Infinity” conducted a workshop on ‘Role of meditation and mental peace’ for Jail Inmates at Tihar Jail No- 8. The workshop was organized by theNorth-West District Legal Services Authority.

Around 100 plus inmates attended this one-hour long workshop. The session started with a discussion on the thought process and how a thought process can change an individual’s life. During this discussion, Dr Anju Sharma threw some light on the five senses organs and emotional freedom technique. She discussed how one can work on their emotions and thought processes. She also emphasized knowing one’s own internal world, on what is going on within their body and mind. During the interactive workshop, the inmates were made to understand that their negative thought process landed them in the prison. They were advised to learn to love themselves and that the negative can be converted into a positive thought process which will brighten their future. Later, a sound meditation was conducted in which everyone meditated and focused on their mind and body and taught to relax the mind. Some instruments were used during the workshop like a crystal bowl to reduce the guilt of the person, Rainstick and Himalayan Tibetan bowl.

The workshop was directed by Tihar jail Superintendent Pawan Kumar for the first-time convicted prisoners. The objective of this workshop was to make these prisoners aware of their inner self and make them understand that their life is in their hands. They need to think positively to avoid any act of crime. It was a unique experience for everyone, and the jail inmates were enlightened by this experience.

Multani Mitti Face Packs

Fuller’s Earth or Multani Mitti is natural clay and can be used in home-made packs. Clays can absorb toxins and impurities and thus detoxify the skin. This also helps to prevent and control eruptions and acne conditions. Some clays have a cooling effect, while many are rich in minerals. Clays cleanse and refine the skin and also tone and tighten the skin, performing the functions of an ideal face mask.

Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti) is commonly used. It has a drying effect, so moisturizing ingredients like honey, aloe vera, fruit pulp, etc., may be added to clay packs, especially if the skin is normal to dry.

It is of particular benefit to oily skins, as it absorbs and reduces oiliness from the skin surface. It also refines the pores and tightens the skin. In fact, it helps acne and pimple prone skin and can be used along with sandalwood, neem, mint, etc. It becomes dry when applied on the skin, tightening the skin and serving the purpose of a useful face pack.

For oily skin:

Mix Fuller’s Earth (multani mitti) with rose water into a paste and apply on the face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash it off when it is dry.

For acne-prone skin:

Mix Fuller’s Earth with sandalwood paste, rose water and neem leaf powder into a paste. Apply the same way and wash off when dry.

For acne marks:

Mix Fuller’s Earth with one teaspoon lemon juice and rose water into a paste. Apply on the face. Wash it off when it is dry.

For normal to dry and normal to oily skin, mix 1 teaspoon Multani mitti with aloe vera gel into a paste. Apply on the face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash it off after 15 minutes with plain water. If there is acne, add 2 drops of Tea Tree Oil to the mixture.

For normal to dry skin, 2 teaspoons of Multani Mitti may be mixed with one teaspoon each of honey, yogurt and almond oil into a paste. Apply and remove the same way.

Mix 2 teaspoons Multani Mitti with 2 teaspoons rose water, half teaspoon pure glycerine and a pinch of turmeric; apply on oily, pimple prone skin and wash off when it dries, or after 15 minutes.

You can mix a pack at home, but keep your skin type in mind and add ingredients accordingly.
