More than 120,000 Singapore residents have set sail on approximately 90 sailings on Genting’s World Dream and RCI’s Quantum of the Seas from Singapore since the pilot kicked off, with no reported cases of COVID-19 spreading on board. This is an encouraging response in the restart of cruising.

Further, He added, “We look forward to working closely with the STB on the CDF initiative as this will be of great support to us at Thomas Cook India and the industry as a whole as we progress on our path to recovery, for when international cruising picks up again.”

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed opens HOPE Consortium’s World Immunisation & Logistics Summit with global leaders in healthcare and philanthropy

The HOPE Consortium’s World Immunisation & Logistics Summit, was opened by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with a call to enhance collaboration in the world’s approach to tackle COVID-19 and ensure a healthier future for all.

The two-day virtual Summit, hosted in by Abu Dhabi, kicked off today under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the participation of acclaimed global healthcare and philanthropic leaders, decision makers, experts and senior government officials, to explore a unified global approach to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his inaugural address, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah said, “Our destiny as nations is linked, as global health security depends on the well-being of all societies.”

Describing the Hope Consortium as a historic announcement that has added to the UAE’s efforts to combat the pandemic globally, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah said that the UAE, being a leading global logistics hub, has played a major role in supplying many countries with the resources they need to overcome the pandemic.

“We are moving quickly, utilising our infrastructure and logistics capabilities and the geographic proximity with Africa, Asia and Europe, to offer medical and food aid to many countries. Our HOPE Consortium has gathered its expertise to secure more vaccines for the world. The faster we can vaccinate populations, while ensuring equitable and fair access to vaccines in a cost effective manner, the faster we can overcome the virus and begin to recover globally. Highlighting the importance of building partnerships to mobilise global resources in the fight against COVID-19, he said: “The Summit represents a critical moment for the global community to come together and develop new scalable solutions in our collective battle against the pandemic. Summer Skin Care

By Dr Kiran Godse

COVID19 lockdown has gradually lifted and offices, schools, public transports etc. are slowing opening its doors for communities to resume life as usually. This has come at a time when summer is right here smiling back at us. We have spent a year inside our houses well-protected from the scorching heat of the summer. Is our skin ready to beat the heat?

SKIN DURING SUMMER:

When summer approach, temperatures rise and so does the humidity level. Humidity brings in a lot of changes in our skin and hair behavior. Our skin becomes sweaty, oily, develops acne flare ups, blackheads, whiteheads, and is prone to fungal infections, heat boils, body odors etc. Even our hair becomes frizzy with an oily scalp, dandruff, etc.

SO HOW TO TACKLE SKIN PROBLEMS DURING SUMMER?

For having a healthy skin during these hard summer days, few tips can be helpful.

  • Cleanse your skin well with a gentle cleanser-twice daily is optimal. In case your body becomes excessively sweaty or one suffers from body odors, bathing twice daily will be helpful
  • Make sure to dry your skin well before layering clothes, preferably even use some dusting powder, since it helps absorb excess moisture and thus, prevents fungal infections, heat boils or prickly heat issues
  • Using a sunscreen is crucial, especially for those who suffer from Hyperpigmentation and sun sensitivity
  • Wearing closed footwear for a prolonged period can give rise to fungal infections and soft corns in the web spaces, so using dusting powder on the foot before wearing socks or shoes, aids in keeping your feet dry and clean
summer

CARING FOR YOUR HAIR DURING SUMMER?

During summer, while it is necessary to care for your skin, it is equally important to take good care of your hair.

  • Cleansing hair at least twice a week is optimal. For those suffering from an itchy or dandruff prone scalp, using an anti-dandruff shampoo regularly keeps dandruff at bay
  • Oiling your hair shouldn’t be done frequently as it can lead to heat boils on scalp with acne flare ups on the forehead and trunk. Just a teaspoon of oil an hour before hair wash, once a week, is adequate. In case the above steps don’t help your skin, consult a Dermatologist.

BEWARE OF THE STEROIDS THAT MAY DAMAGE YOUR SKIN:

Avoid taking drugs or applying over-the-counter-creams recommended by friends or the pharmacist, since majority of them contain steroids which may worsen your skin condition.

  • Avoid using topical steroid creams sold over the counter to treat fungal infections
  • Keep your body well hydrate in summer! Drink lots of water, juices and eat plenty of fruits rich in Vitamin C.

THINGS TO DO TO SAFEGUARD YOUR SKIN & HAIR WHILE STEPPING OUT:

While stepping out, one must ensure that a generous coat of a broad spectrum sunscreen is used in summer. Reapplication of the same every 2-3 hourly is necessary to avail adequate sun protection, especially if one is constantly out in the sun. Also it is not necessary to apply sunscreen under your mask, as it may cause irritation and acne flare-ups since the occlusion inside the mask damages skin barrier and makes skin more prone to irritation. Apart from using a sunscreen, wearing protective clothing helps. Light colored loose cotton garments should be preferred to avoid any excessive sweating and friction.

Wishing you all ‘happy summer skin days’!

Do Make-up Cosmetics Really Have a Shelf Life?

By Shahnaz Husain

All cosmetic products have a shelf life and should not be in use beyond that. Our Ayurvedic skin and hair care products have a shelf life of 3 years from Date of Manufacture. Our make-up cosmetics have a shelf life of 2 years, but some make-up cosmetics have shorter shelf life.

Make items may not have expiry dates, so you should know how long they last. The look and smell of the product can tell you a lot. If a moisturizer or lipstick smells rancid, it means that the oils have separated. If mascara is dry or too sticky, its time to get another one! Never add water or cream to soften it. If you have an eye infection, throw away your eyeliner, mascara and eye pencils, regardless of shelf life date. In fact, if there is eye infection, any redness or irritation, avoid using cosmetics till you have got over it.

Shelf Life

The Shelf Life of make-up cosmetics is as follows:

Foundation: Water based foundations last for a year, while cream based foundations may last a little longer.

Shelf Life

Powder:  Loose powder can last for two to three years, but compact powder lasts for two years and may even become dry before that.

Powder blushers and shadows last for two years, while cream blushers and shadows last for about 18 months.

Mascara lasts for three to six months. Actually, the pumping action of the applicator brush of roll-on mascaras is said to make them more vulnerable to bacteria.

Eyeliners have a shelf life of two years. So do lip liners. If you use eye pencils, sharpen them regularly. This keeps you safe from contamination.

Lipsticks also last for two years, but lip gloss lasts for less time – 12 to 18 months.

Shelf Life

As already mentioned, if there is any change in colour, look or fragrance of the product, the stability of the formulation may be affected. So stop using them.

Storing make-up, especially lipstick, is of importance. During summer, store your lipsticks in the refrigerator, in a plastic bag. When humidity and heat are not high, keep your lipsticks in a drawer. Sharpen your lip pencils regularly and always keep the lid on, so that it is protected from dust. Wash make-up brushes and applicators once a week, with warm soapy water after adding a few drops of Savlon. Rinse well with water and use a clean cloth or tissue to dry them.

More into it…

united colors of Benetton

The 160-square meter, single floor boutique makes abundant use of upcycled natural materials. The floor is made with gravel from the river Piave. And waste wood from beech trees brought down by Vaia. (a storm that hit the Italian Veneto region in 2018). While the walls are being treated with mineral paint with antibacterial. And anti-mold properties that can also reduce pollutants in the environment.

The store interiors are made with new materials created from textile industry scrap: the perimeter platforms. And bases of the display stands are made with a compound created from used buttons. (difficult to dispose of) mixed in hydro-resin; Recycled wool (in its raw wick state) is reused in the design of the perimeter lining. And as decoration for the curtains of the dressing rooms; shelves, display bases and mannequins are made in “rossino”. A material created from upcycled, mixed textile fibres.

Sustainable Solutions…

The shop window displays make use of sustainable solutions that reduce the use of resources. Transparent panels fixed to the ceiling can be moved at will, creating a sort of theatrical backdrop that forms a connection between the store and the street. The windows are equipped with low environmental impact transparent LED screens, which will feature content about product visuals, commercial information and communication.

The Florence boutique is also a benchmark in terms of power consumption: the new shop uses 20% less energy than a standard store. Further, A system based on tiny sensors, artificial intelligence and data analysis maximizes the energy efficiency of the points of sale and guarantees comfort for the customer, for example by automatically adjusting store temperature based on the number of people in the shop.

Moreover, Visitors to the store can choose from among the wide range of United Colors of Benetton sustainable garments in organic, recycled or BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton, regenerated nylon, natural fibres such as linen, and other sustainable materials. Easy Remedies to Take Off Holi Colours from Nails

By Dr. Blossom Kochhar

Protect your nails. Holi hai! So, Holi is almost here, and we all are eagerly waiting for colourful Holi parties. As you plan for a Holi party, the first thing that comes to your mind is, how will you protect your hair and skin? You look for oils, moisturisers, home remedies, etc. But one thing that most of the time gets neglected is “our nails”.

While playing Holi, our nail are regularly stained with harmful colours for at least 5 to 6 hours. This can spoil all your nail art, nail extensions, French manicure, or even plain nails. No one wants those dry, brittle, multi-coloured, dirty nail.

Here we will share some easy home remedies that will help you to easily clean your nails at home without spending a massive sum of money.

  1. Dip in cold water: After playing Holi, the first thing that you must do is dip your nails in cold water or room temperature water. Take a bowl filled with cold or room temperature water, squeeze 1 or 2 lemons in it and leave the squeezed lemons also in the bowl. Soak your nails in cold water for up to 10 minutes and keep rubbing softly with lemons. Bleaching agents present in lemons will help clean colours from your nail and hands.
  2. Vinegar Dip: Take 3 to 4 spoons of vinegar in a bowl and dip your nail in it for up to 5 minutes. Take a cotton ball and start rubbing your nail with it. Dip cotton in vinegar and keep rubbing on your nail. The high content of citrus present in vinegar will remove the stubborn colours from your nail. But this can also dry your nails excessively. Use Nail and Cuticle Conditioner by Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic. It will help to nourish, hydrate and strengthen the nails.
  3. Clear nail paint with almond oil: Apply clear nail paint onto your nails. Take a bowl filled with lukewarm water and add few drops of Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Almond Oil in it. Slowly start rubbing your nails. This will help to take off colours from nail easily and regain the moisture lost by nail while playing Holi.
  4. Orange peel powder or Amchur powder: Both amchur and orange peel powders have bleaching and exfoliation properties. You can use either of them or both and make a fine paste with water. Apply this mixture on your nails and leave for 10 minutes, wet your fingers and slowly start exfoliating your nails with it and rinse off with cold water. After this, use Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic Olive Oil to give deep nourishment to the nail.

Pre Holi tips for nails:

1.   Apply a thick coat of dark-coloured nail paint.

2.   Apply rich moisturiser on nails and body.

Enjoy your Holi with no worry! Wish you all a very happy and colourful Holi!
