Gentleman’s Code #GetNoticed hunts for male model

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is coming up with the #GetNoticed model hunt exclusively for male models. This is being done, in association with Wilderbee Talent Camp (WTC), by supermodel Lakshmi Rana.

The FDCI and WTC will initiate the process with online applications from aspiring male model. Almost 15 models will be shortlisting. Also, invited to the FDCI office for an intensive training module designed by Lakshmi Rana.

This three-day programme includes sessions on various aspects to make them ramp ready—the business of modelling; ramp walk training and artistic posing; personal branding; effective communication. It will go a step further with grooming and self-styling and as well as agency and contracts.

This in-depth plan will be conducted during the first week of April. Moreover, conclude with a jury on the fourth day. The final three selected models will get a chance to walk at an FDCI-organised event.

“The FDCI did not wish to limit this opportunity to just female models, but also extend this to finding male faces, who will rule the ramp of tomorrow with their unbridled confidence and winning personality. Scrub makes my skin dry and cream causes pimples. What to do?

Use scrub once a week, but not on pimples. Avoid creams, as pimples usually occur on oily skin. Mix together one teaspoon pure glycerin with 50 ml rose water. Keep in a bottle and apply a little on face. It will relieve dryness, without making the skin oily. You can also mix honey with lemon juice and apply.

I have dry skin. How can I take care of it?

Use mild glycerin soap or cleansing gel to cleanse the face twice a day. Mix one teaspoon honey with milk and egg yolk of half teaspoon olive oil. Apply on skin and wash off after 20 minutes. At night, apply a nourishing cream on the face and massage it with a few drops of water. Wipe off excess cream with moist cotton wool before bedtime.

How can I know my skin type?

When you wake up in the morning, wipe your face with a tissue, before washing or cleansing it. If the tissue is clean, you have a normal to dry skin. If the tissue becomes stained or soiled with grease, you have a normal to oily skin. Use different tissues for different areas, wiping the forehead, nose and chin with one tissue and using another one to wipe the cheeks. This will help to know if you have a combination skin.

The lasting power depends a great deal on the quality of the nail varnish. Apply nail polish, using smooth strokes, from the base of the nails to the tip. Three long strokes should be adequate to cover each nail. First apply it in the middle of the nail and then on either side. Wait for the first coat to dry and then apply the second coat of colour. Then apply a colourless nail polish. This helps the polish last longer.

Should I use cucumber for dark circles around eyes?

Apply cucumber juice daily for 20 minutes. Wash off with plain water. Also, daily apply pure almond oil sparingly around eyes and massage it lightly on the skin, using only the ring finger, for one minute under each eye. Massage in one direction only. Leave on for 15 minutes and wipe off gently with moist cotton wool.

Protect Your Skin & Hair this Holi

Holi, the festival of colors is just around the corner. Given the present scenario, we all must have made our plans to celebrate Holi responsibly. And carefully just among close family & friends. Amid the gloom of the rising incidences of COVID19 cases in Mumbai. Moreover, Holi colors will refresh our minds, moods and bring cheer. While it is significant to maintain all the required protocols to safeguard ourselves from the virus. We must also protect our skin and hair from allergic reactions, acne breakouts, and dry, frizzy hair.

Further, following small steps can help to prevent damage to hair and skin and let you enjoy tension-free.

PRE HOLI PREPARATION

Protecting your skin on the day of celebration is not going to be enough. Certain precautions can be taken a few days in advance to obtain optimal results.

Avoid bleaching/ waxing/ facial one week before and after Holi celebrations
Apply a thick coat of oil or petroleum jelly or cold cream on your skin – Do not forget lips, behind ears, and the navel
Oil your hair and beard too – liberal quantities to be used
Sunscreen should be applied in generous amounts on all sun-exposed areas, 30mins before going out in sun, and repeat every 3 hours if in the sun for longer hours
Nail polish is a good idea to protect your nails from Holi colors which may stain them blue & green

DURING HOLI CELEBRATION:

Maintain social distancing, wearing a mask is a must
Prefer dry organic colors
Avoid colors like gold, and silver paints
Avoid too much physical touch
Wash out the color at the first sign of irritation or itching
Keep moisturizer handy – Moisturizers work best on wet skin, so wet your skin with water and apply moisturizer. Whenever you feel irritation, either apply ice or just splash some water & then put loads of moisturizer on top of it
Keep yourself hydrated – drinking water ensures the deeper layers of skin are nourished
Avoid too much alcohol

POST HOLI CLEANING:

Keep the wet and dirty clothes separately
Take a bath with warm water
Use Ubtan – Ubtan like packs made of earthen clay (Multani Mitti) or a combination of Wheat flour, Curd, Haldi is a good idea to be applied all over the body to remove the color. This ensures the skin doesn’t get too dry as against using the soap whose detergent action might dry out the skin
Use a cleansing milk with lukewarm water, especially for the face and can be used as a second wash after ubtan
Sea salt, Glycerine & aroma oil is also a good option to remove the color
Do not scrub out the color. Remove the Ubtan while still a bit wet, especially for age groups with acne-prone facial and truncal skin
Shampooing is necessary to clean the scalp, and a conditioner will help condition & moisten the hair, preventing them from getting frizzy
Post bath moisturizer for skin, and serum for hair is recommended
