Moda Biella -Festive&Winter Collection

A revered brand in Italy, known for its heritage and top notch fabrics, Moda Biella, produces a remarkable array of beautiful superfine cloths. A heritage of luxury fabrics and fashion style, Moda Biella is all set to launch their wonderful Festive & Winter 2020 ensemble this festive season, with cloths that are colourful, well designed, robust and comfortable.

The history of Biella can be traced back to 1245, with a rich heritage of artisan weavers having wonderful skill and a passion to weave beautiful cloths. These cloths were woven in yarns spun from the fleeces of Biellese sheep, which were relatively coarser micron. In 18th century, woolen fabrics were coarser, chunkier and heavier and weaving techniques too were not sophisticated as a result the fabrics had a raw touch to them. 19th century saw developments in the textile industry with merino wool from Australia entering the textile space and by the 20th century, merino wool garments became more refined, smoother, smarter and more luxurious.

Moda Biella features superfine merino fabrics and luxury worsteds available in exotic wool blends, with finer micron, finer quality, better handle and drape than before. Today the Moda Biella’s wool comes from the Merino sheep in Australia, New Zealand or Tasmania.

Moda Biella’s Festive & Winter Collection features 4 new and different collections-

MISHÉ by Bhumika & Minakshi Ahluwalia

Manish Malhotra

An Ode to Artisans with “Ruhaaniyat” Collection

Manish Malhotra’s “Ruhaaniyat” is a scintillating celebration of culture, craft, colours, artisanal skills and design that will complete the bridal trousseaux for discerning couples.

Inspiration

Inspired from Punjab, Awadh and Kutch, embellished the archival fabrics that were further highlighted with borders that glittered in zari woven with gold and silver.

Kartik Aaryan featured as a muse for the couture film.

 Recreating Glory of the Past

The construction moved from the traditional kurtas, khada dupattas, ghararas, and izar salwars for women and then to the grand Jama angarkhas and heavy shawls for men. A variety of kurtas in a pastel line gave the festive touch to the men’s wear, while long and short kurtas at times lean in shape; offered a choice for women. Zardosi vintage accents lent an old-world charm. The classic textiles were hand-basted, and hand quilted with a muted colour spread of teal, pistachio green, dusky pink, grey, maroon, black and white.

Adding Opulence to the “Ruhaaniyat” collection

Manish Malhotra handcrafted jewellery in pure gold with flat cut diamonds, Russian and Zambian emeralds and pearls, reflecting the art and designs of Punjab and Awadh;

Manish adorned the heads of the models with passas, maangtikkas, and maathapattis. Encircling the necks were stylish chokers, haars, two and three-tiered necklaces, as well as studs and Sahara earrings. Ornaments for the hand were as dazzling with haathphools kadas, rings and stackable bangles twinkling on the wrists.

 Quotes

Jaspreet Chandok, Head Lifestyle Businesses IMG Reliance

“It’s always a pleasure to have Manish at Lakmé Fashion Week. We wanted the opening show to be really special this time and towards a cause that is important to all of us, towards the artisans that are the backbone of our industry. It is our privilege to have partnered for Mijwan fundraiser, which is so close to Manish.   We look forward to seeing the master courtier spin his magic on the virtual runway.”

Shabana Azmi

“We are really proud of Mijwan’s journey and what we’ve been able to achieve so far. I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the community, particularly Manish, to take these craftsmen’s work to the world and provide them with a regular source of employment and income throughout. Mijwan is growing each day and, along with it, its craft and people, and I’m glad that Lakmé Fashion Week has come on board to support the Mijwan Welfare Society by fundraising efforts.”

Manish Malhotra

“Ruhaaniyat is my tribute to all the artisans and craftsmen of our country who have left the fingerprints of their art onto our heritage culture. It’s about the eternal soul of the craft from two culturally rich regions (vibrance of Punjab and nazakat of Awadh) and how it continues to live on even today.”

“The new format of the digital fashion week which required me from creating, conceptualizing to directing a film has been enormously demanding. Working with models and making them characters, collaborating with musicians from all over the country, and managing several other things simultaneously, this has been a rather rare experience that I’ve truly loved because somewhere it satisfies two loves of my life – fashion and film.”

“My association with Lakmé Fashion Week continues to grow stronger. We continue in our journey to explore many layers of art and craft through our showcase, and there could be no better platform than to showcase our Ruhaaniyat collection with LFW.”“Mijwan strikes the deepest chord of my emotional bond with craftspeople. We just completed our ten years with Mijwan, and it gives me so much happiness to see the village growing bit by bit. Today, the craft of Mijwan is an integral part of our label, and we are happy that with our support, the village is growing, and we will continue to take bigger strides to empower not Mijwan but our all other craft clusters.

Please tell me how to prevent hair fall and have thick hair.

Some of the reasons for hair loss are dandruff, oily scalp, stress, thyroid imbalance, illness, nutritional deficiencies, hair damage caused by repeated dyeing, colouring, perming, straightening, etc. Hair loss after pregnancy is also common. So, you can try to identify the cause in your case. Apply non-oily herbal hair tonic on the scalp daily, using cotton wool and leave on. Avoid massage. Part the hair in sections and apply on the scalp. Apply pure coconut oil or olive oil once a week the night before shampoo. Avoid head massage. Diet is very important. Have a small bowl of sprouts daily and include fresh fruits, salads, leafy green vegetables, soyabean, curd, in your diet. Ask your doctor to prescribe vitamin and mineral supplements.

My hands and legs have become darker. Please tell me how to remove tan. I have normal to oily skin. Which foundation is better – liquid or powder?

Apply sesame seed (til) oil daily and massage it on the arms and legs. Mix gram flour (besan), curd, lemon juice and a little turmeric (haldi) into a paste and apply at least three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour. Then apply til oil and massage it into the skin, as recommended. Apply a foundation which is one shade lighter than your skin colour. You can apply a water based foundation. If the weather is warm and humid, you can use compact powder in a beige shade.

How to get rid of pimples and pimple marks?

Wash your face with a medicated soap. Then apply astringent lotion, using cotton wool. Boil neem leaves over a low fire. Cool and strain. Make a paste of the leaves and apply daily on the face. Wash off with plain water after half an hour. Apply sandalwood paste on pimples. Mix

cinnamon (dalchini) powder with a little lemon juice and a few drops of honey into a sticky paste. Apply only on the pimples daily and leave it on for one or two hours. Mix multani mitti with rose water and lemon juice into a paste and apply on the face two or three times a week. Wash it off when it dries. Avoid creams and moisturizers. The collection is charmed by the majesty of old-world regalia and takes the liberty to re-interpret the look in a more suitable palette for modern tastes. The range will constitute Punjab’s big identity, Awadh, and Kutch with its rare, never-seen, and never-used before archival fabrics that bring forth the real fraction of the old luxury repertoire. These vintage textiles are over a century old and discern one with its unparalleled finesse. It comprises of accent borders that are zari-woven in original gold and silver. The voluminous silhouettes, deft embroidery, fine layering all emerge together to form a harmonious sense of style.

The collection breaks-away from the aesthetics of fast-fashion couture and aims to revive indigenous craftsmen and artisans’ slow and purist workmanship.

The range comprises elaborate head wears consisting of passas, maangtikas and maathapattis, embellished necklines spanning chokers, haars, two and three tiered necklaces, stud, and Sahara earrings. Furthermore, the jewellery collection also includes haathphools, kada, rings, and stackable bangles for hand accessories. All the jewels are handcrafted in the excellence of pure gold, flat-cut diamonds, rubies, Russian and Zambian emeralds, and pearls.
