Superman. Spider-Man. Batman. Iron Man. The superhero genre has been predominantly known as ‘boys’ club’, skewed toward a traditionally male demographic as they make their way to multiplexes.

But a shift has been witnessed in recent years, with studios banking on female characters — and seeing great returns for the investments.

Earlier, famous female superhero characters were introduced on the big screen as part of a team. Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin were founding members of the X-MEN franchise, while Fantastic Four member Sue Storm was portrayed over the years by both Jessica Alba and Kate Mara for superhero adventures from 20th Century Fox.

Halle Berry also tried her hand at bringing Catwoman to life in a standalone DC villain movie. And Helen Slater broke serious ground when she played Supergirl in 1984, capitalizing on the success of the SUPERMAN franchise from Christopher Reeve.

Additionally, Fox also spun off a popular Marvel Comics character from its Daredevil origin story. Audiences responded so strongly to Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, the trained assassin, that she was given her own movie in 2005.

There are two major motion pictures that shifted the focus onto female-driven superhero movies. Warner Bros. was the first to bet big on a female hero when they spun Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman off of the BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE film and gave her a solo adventure in 2017. Wonder Woman is gearing up for her anticipated sequel, WONDER WOMAN 1984.

Marvel Studios also introduced a major female superhero last year. Brie Larson played Carol Danvers in CAPTAIN MARVEL, the first MCU movie to be led by a female superhero. Captain Marvel wasn’t the first female superhero in the MCU. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and more helped to blaze a trail for Carol Danvers to finally shine in her own film.

Released in March 2019, CAPTAIN MARVEL went on to cross the $1.1 billion mark at the box office, a staggering number for a character. Future movies include ETERNALS and a third GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY film, as well as an inevitable CAPTAIN MARVEL 2.

The success of WONDER WOMAN and CAPTAIN MARVEL at the box office seems to have empowered studios to roll the dice on even more female-driven superhero and comic book features.

Captain Marvel is set to premiere on 8th March 2020 for the First Time on Television at 1 PM and 9 PM only on Star Movies.

International Indian Film Academy Awards 2020 (IIFA) Engages with Izhaar for the Gala Night of Awards

EXCITING COLLABORATION BETWEEN IIFA & IZHAAR

International Indian Film Academy Awards 2020 (IIFA) 2020 signs up Izhaar to design their prestigious event invitations, for an award night full of glitz and glamour. This award function is organised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Izhaar’s invitation has been inspired from Madhya Pradesh’s uncanny Gond art. The thought of honoring the art community has been showcased on the invitation.

The ‘Tree Of Life’ has been chosen for the invitation, as a symbol of prosperity & growth. The tigers on the invitation’s cover page add a symbolic value to the predominant tiger population in the State.

Izhaar, to get familiar with the tribal art of Madhya Pradesh, approached a renowned art gallery, ‘Arushi Arts’, which is located in New Delhi.  Following the passionate research, the art for the invitations was curated from Japani Shyam and Dhavat Singh, who translates the tales into their paintings, sketching the boundaries of traditional Gond art.

It’s a tie this year as Gully Boy & War lead the winners list by stepping away with 3 awards in the technical category each. Gully Boy for Best Cinematography (Jay Oza), Best Dialogue (Vijay Maurya), Best Editing (Nitin Baid) and War for Best Choreography (Bosco – Caesar; Tushar Kalia), Best Sound Mixing (Anuj Mathur – YRF Studios; Pritam Das), Special Effects (Visuals) (YFX) (YRF Studios).

 

Uri: The Surgical Strike wins 2 awards in the technical category: Sound Design (Bishwadeep Dipak Chatterjee), Background Score (Shashwat Sachdev)

Other winners in the Technical category are Anubhav Sinha and Gaurav Solanki wins Best Screenplay, for Article 15.

  •  Similarly, we also suggest to sensitive skin people, that along with hair, after putting the base of foundation on face, they can also apply hair spray on your face keeping a gap by closing your eyes. Wear long sleeves and full-length bottoms to protect your skin. Make sure what you wear during the festival covers the maximum of your body so that there will be less skin exposed.
  • After playing when you take -off your colour, make sure you don’t rub your skin directly. The best thing you can use for the same is baby oil. Gently massage it on your face in a circular motion. Then you can apply a small amount of face-wash with baby oil, either dahi or besan. Right after shower make-sure to apply moisturizer on your skin properly, so that your skin stays replenished and soft.
  • Coming to your hair, the main thing before playing Holi, is you should prepare your hair firstly. You should not apply any chemical in your hair including rebonding, pumping or coloring. If you can avoid it for one week, better do that. Because it opens the cuticle of your hair, as Holi colors are high on chemicals, they can damage your scalp. By chance, if you have done any work on your hair, try to avoid playing Holi, else cover it properly with your scarf, or cap or any which way is easier for you to hide your hair.
  • Similarly, you can apply thick oils, like mustard or olive oil, etc., it creates thickness which keeps your hair safe from color chemicals. Else if you are playing Holi with flowers, organic colors or homemade colors, it won’t damage your skin but there is no surety that people who visit your place are using the same organic material. So better be on the safe line and apply oil on your hair.
  • Right after playing Holi, you must dry comb your hair before washing it, don’t apply direct water and shampoo on your hair. Give your hair dry comb as much you can, it will be better if you wash your hair in a position of upside down, like in Salon, because it vanishes inside color. Also, make sure not to use hot water for your hair, keep it lukewarm and whatever Shampoo you are using, before that apply a little conditioner, it clears the scratch of your hair. Then apply shampoo and again conditioner and then rinse it off. This way will keep your hair free from weakness. Also, you can apply oil or either serum after washing your hair. It will maintain the shine.

 

Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda inaugurated Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company in Delhi

Recently, Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company(MCCC) Delhi branch was inaugurated by Bollywood actors Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda. The company is situated in the Safdarjung development area in Hauz Khas. The headquarters of the company is situated in Mumbai.
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has started the company’s branch in Delhi to felicitate aspiring actors in Delhi and nearby regions. Now they don’t have to travel to Mumbai for the auditions and they can easily get casted from Delhi.
Present at the Inauguration, Casting director Mukesh Chhabra Said, ” We are opening another branch in Chandigarh next week and we will expand in many more cities. The movies which are made in Bollywood now their casting will be done in all my city offices. So that no talent remains unnoticed.”
Pulkit Samrat shared, ” When I decided to start acting, it was very difficult for me to get the guidance as I didn’t know anyone in the industry. But now with this setup in Delhi itself, it will be very easy for the aspirants to get a fair chance and learn from an experienced person like Mukesh Ji.”
Kriti spoke, ” Now all the aspirants won’t have to leave their parents and family to follow their dream of being an Actor. They can come here, easily give auditions and who knows they may get a big break in the industry.
