Inspired by Mumbai Kunal Rawal presents ‘ROUSING’ 

 Kunal Rawal seeks inspiration from Mumbai for his power packed collection ‘Rousing.’ The name is inspired by various elements that intrigue the renowned designer daily.

Functionality and versatility being the key element of each silhouette, Label Kunal Rawal designs a collection that archives classic heritage structures of Mumbai in the form of Kurtas over shirts. To service the modern man, the new assemblage merges tradition with millennial designs whilst playing with cuts, patterns and multi utility features to create exciting solutions to men’s wardrobes.

In a bold move, the designer unveils a blend of metal detailing in traditional wear that inherently celebrates the spirit of Mumbai. Photosensitivity to sun on apparel is another feature that will debut on this collection. Interlacing innovation with design, the pieces build individuality in their ability to change colour on exposure to the sun by virtue of photosensitivity to UV rays. This embodies the philosophy of packing two power looks in one outfit which is a modern update to the vibe of the label. This gives every KR Man the opportunity to transition your look – One Occasion, Two Looks!

Each piece of ‘Rousing’ has a story behind it and is a perfect fusion of ideal festive wear that could be termed as an anti-trend but multifunctional that allows the wearer to express his individual style with a unique stamp. Kunals latest collection uses a new and exciting colour pallete infusing darker shades like olive & browns going into pinks, butter, lemons and mint.

Female and male model auditions in the capital became a treasure hunt for the right mix of personality and effective communication.

 The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) after holding successful auditions in Kolkata and Mumbai, held female and male model auditions in Delhi today. This model hunt at the FDCI office saw an overwhelming record-breaking response with over 600 contenders and a melange of myriad faces emerged to find a spot under the arch lights.

The jury panel for female auditions comprised designers Suneet Varma, Rahul Khanna and choreographers Asha Kochhar and Aparna Bahl. The male auditions had designers Rohit Bal, Manoviraj Khosla, Nikhil Mehra, Pawan Sachdeva, Dhruv Vaish, Rohit Kamra,Vikram Bajaj and choreographer Vidyun Singh. The 50 shortlisted models will get an opportunity to walk for the Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week in association with EbixCash Autumn-Winter 2020 from March 11-15, in the capital.

“Delhi, a vivacious city brings to the fore intrepid faces that are drenched in personality and break the stereotype of perfection. This year too we have looked for unconventional looks shattering the narrow definitions of beauty that have been a template of the style world,” said Sunil Sethi, Chairman FDCI.

In line with their design philosophy of combining the textiles, crafts and aesthetics of 2 states every season, KUMARIKANDAM is an amalgamation of Tamil Nadu and Bengal, seamlessly marrying their rich textile heritage, aesthetics and crafts. Silk Kanjivarams super fine Bengal cotton muslin, taanths and jamdanis fluidly coexist, highlighting the unique graphic character of both textiles.

Hand woven check patterns, temple borders, Kolum and Alpona motifs blend together with ocean life prints and embroideries to create a harmonious marriage of contrasting yet common elements that are so integral to both cultures. The ocean life print very subtly includes 3 Vishnu Avataars, namely Matsayana (fish), Kurma (tortoise) and Kalki (horse) which they have interpreted as a seahorse.
Fashion, like every other expressive medium, is a reflection of the times we live in. As designers they don’t just create textiles and clothing that adorn the body. They try transcending to an empathetic and inclusive belief system that is holistic and all encompassing of the various aspects of life – the body, mind and soul (Atma/Brahman) – the House of Three.

2 states, 3 handloom clusters, 3 Master weavers across Kalna ( Tantajo By Rajib Debnath ) Kanchipuram and Kumbakonam will come together to create a narrative drenched in heritage, history, philosophy and a soulful tranquility, that evokes an ethos of integrity (Dharma), life Spirit (Prana) of a collective consciousness, an ancient macrocosm we call India.
