Shivalik Dining Edit

Azula Asian Bistro & Café

I walked into Azula Asian Bistro & Café on a midweek afternoon, expecting a quick meal and staying much longer than planned. There’s an ease to this space that settles in almost immediately—nothing overstated, nothing competing for attention. The room is warm, contained, and quietly inviting, the kind of setting where conversations unfold without interruption and the table naturally becomes the focus.

This Shivalik address carries forward Azula’s Pan-Asian lens, but the menu feels more considered, almost more personal. I started with the Goma-ae burrata salad, which brought together creamy textures with a subtle nuttiness that lingered. The sizzling stone pot arrived exactly as you’d hope—aromatic, layered, and deeply satisfying—while the volcano sushi balanced flavor and texture with a sense of restraint that worked in its favor.

What stood out to me was the shift toward smaller plates and desserts that lean into comfort without losing character. The apple pie wontons with salted caramel were a highlight—crisp on the outside, warm within, and just indulgent enough to close the meal on a thoughtful note.

Behind the restaurant are Manu Chadha and Nisha Kakumanu Chadha, whose experience across India and the United States quietly shapes the way everything comes together. You notice it in the pacing of the menu, the balance of flavors, and the overall rhythm of the space.

With an average spend of around INR 1800 for two, it sits comfortably in that space where you can walk in without planning, yet still feel like you’ve chosen well. It moves easily between lunch and dinner, and the layout also lends itself to small gatherings and celebrations without feeling forced.

The Shivalik space reads as a more distilled expression of the brand, where everything feels intentional and pared back to what matters. You leave thinking less about the setting and more about the meal itself—each dish holding its own, without needing anything extra around it.
