Anamika Khanna’s Moonlit Palace Brings Indian Craft Traditions into Contemporary Couture

Presented at Hyderabad’s iconic Taj Falaknuma Palace as the opening showcase of Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York, an FDCI initiative, Anamika Khanna’s Moonlit Palace was introduced against one of India’s most celebrated architectural landmarks. The grandeur of the palace complemented the presentation, drawing attention to richly textured textiles, sculptural silhouettes, and intricate handwork.

Silver light drifted across marble floors and carved archways, illuminating metallic embroidery, mirrorwork, and layered fabrics. As the models moved through the palace, different textures and handcrafted details came into focus, making the setting feel like a natural extension of the presentation.

Moonlit Palace reflected Anamika Khanna’s signature approach to Indian couture through sculptural drapes, fluid layering, and contemporary construction. Embroidery was integrated into the garments themselves, while jewelry emerged from necklines, bodices, and sleeves as part of the overall design.

Drawing from Rajasthan’s textile traditions, the collection introduced deep jewel tones alongside mirror embroidery, gold foil, and richly layered textiles developed in collaboration with women artisan communities. Every fabric carried the mark of handwork, from stitching and dyeing to painting and embroidery.

Another chapter drew inspiration from Kolkata’s Kalighat artistic heritage. Elongated silhouettes, fluid layering, and restrained embroidery shifted the focus toward line and movement, offering a quieter contrast within the collection.

Opening Hyundai India Couture Week 2026 at Hyderabad’s Taj Falaknuma Palace also marked the first time the fashion week’s opening presentation was held outside Delhi. The historic venue reflected the growing reach of Indian couture while providing an appropriate setting for a collection rooted in regional craft traditions.
