Aisha Rao’s Priyasi Brings Stories of Love to Hyundai India Couture Week 2026
At Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York, Aisha Rao presented Priyasi—a couture collection that explored the many languages of love through a distinctly contemporary lens. Drawing from history, mythology, literature and cinema, the designer translated timeless emotions into richly layered craftsmanship, modern silhouettes and an immersive theatrical setting that lingered long after the final walk.

The runway extended the world of Priyasi. Monumental tulips framed the venue as sculptural installations, while cinematic lighting, an evocative score, and live performances shaped an atmosphere that echoed the collection’s romantic narrative. Fashion, performance, and scenography unfolded as a seamless experience, with each look adding another layer to the story.
With Priyasi, Aisha Rao drew inspiration from timeless love stories that transcend cultures and generations. The collection unfolded through three themes—Longing, Union, and Remembrance—each expressing a different emotional journey. Rather than interpreting these stories literally, Rao translated their essence into couture, creating pieces that invite a personal connection with the wearer.
The House’s signature craftsmanship remained at the forefront throughout the collection. Intricate embroidery, layered polychromatic appliqué, and richly textured surfaces defined gowns, capes, and contemporary separates, while botanical motifs and sculptural detailing added depth to the silhouettes. Every piece reflected Aisha Rao’s distinctive design language, where artisanal craftsmanship, thoughtful color, and contemporary femininity come together with remarkable finesse.

The collection also reflected Aisha Rao’s continued commitment to responsible craftsmanship. Bio-based materials, including bio-resham and bio-badla, were integrated into the couture pieces, highlighting the designer’s ongoing exploration of sustainable innovation alongside traditional artisanal techniques

The tulip remained a recurring motif throughout Priyasi, appearing across the scenography and within the collection’s intricate embroidery and embellishments. Symbolizing devotion, hope, and enduring love, it provided a visual thread that connected the collection’s three themes—Longing, Union, and Remembrance.

The finale brought the narrative to its conclusion as every model walked the runway carrying a single tulip, reinforcing the symbolism that had shaped the collection from the opening look.
Expanding the world of Priyasi, Aisha Rao also introduced a fine jewellery collaboration with Shree Jewellers. Designed alongside the couture collection, the jewellery reflected the same attention to intricate craftsmanship, coloured gemstones, and refined detailing, creating a cohesive dialogue between fashion and fine jewellery.
