Hiding Dark Under-Eye Circles

From Make-up Hacks to Skincare Regime

 By Dr. Blossom Kochhar

Step 1  Apply an orange color concealer under and over the eye lids. Since the tissues around the eyes are moving, the dark circles are also not just under the eyes but also run on the top lid. It is important to cover both the lower under eye and top lid with an orange concealer with the help of your fingertips/a sponge/a small-flat brush. Make-Up Designory’s Blue Corrector concealer has been used in the images attached.

Step 2 – Cover the orange concealer with a foundation. Apply foundation with a foundation brush/sponge. It is recommended to use a foundation that matches the skin tone than to use a lighter/darker shade. Lighter/darker foundations tend to make the skin around the eyes look grey. Mac’s Studio Fix Foundation in NC42 is used in the image attached.

Step 3 – Set the concealer and foundation with a loose powder to prevent the product from creasing or forming lines under the eyes. Make-Up Designory’s Loose Powder in Butter Cream is used to set the base.

Step 4 – Complete the look by applying appropriate/suitable make-up.

To get rid of dark circles through homemade recipe

Take a raw potato. Grate and extract the juice out of it. Soak a cotton ball into it and apply to your dark circles. Keep it for 20 minutes then rinse it out.

Or

Soak a cotton ball into a warm tea without milk and dab around your dark circles.

Or

Take a cucumber cut it into thick slices. Freeze it in a freezer for 20 minutes. Place the slices on the dark circles. Leave it for 15 minutes then rinse it out with water.

“Beauty is in the Eyes of Beholder”

Celebrity makeup artist Aanchal Chugh on the future of the beauty industry, lockdown, beauty tips, and more…

  • The social lockdown has caused all fields of business to take a hit. How do you think the makeup business has been affected?

The beauty industry is changing rapidly in response to the corona virus pandemic. Many makeup artists, hairstylists, lash artists, and more are without work because of cancellation in weddings and events.

  • You’ve always kept yourself busy with makeup assignments and workshops. How has the lockdown affected you and your work?

Accusation of Plagiarism on ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ writer Juhi Chaturvedi is Baseless

Misguided Attempt to Malign the Team.

Rising Sun Films, the production house of filmmaker Shoojit Sircar and producer Ronnie Lahiri, has responded to the allegations of plagiarism against Ayushmann Khurrana and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Gulabo Sitabo.

These claims are by Akira Agarwal, the son of writer late Rajeev Agarwal who had submitted his story in a contest known as “Cinestaan India’s Storyteller Script Contest” promoted by The Screenwriters Association (SWA), a Trade Union of screenwriters and lyricists who work for Films, TV and Digital Media in India. Veteran screenwriter Anjum Rajabali chaired this jury, and Juhi along with 2 more jury members was part of the plan for the final 8 scripts .The final shortlisted scripts (which did not include Akira’s story) came to Juhi and other jury members on 24th October 2018.

The real facts are that in 2017, Juhi had shared the idea of a crooked old man with Mr. Bachchan, who liked the idea and then asked her to develop it. She then developed the idea and  the concept was registered by her in May 2018. Furthermore, Juhi never received a copy of the supposedly copied script. Anjum Rajabali and the SWA  have independently confirmed this as well. On May 29th 2020 the  Screenwriters Association ruled in favor of Juhi.

Statement by Juhi Chaturvedi, “My conscience is clear and so are the facts in this matter. Gulabo Sitabo is my original work and I am proud of it. I shared the idea with the director and lead actor of the film in early 2017. I subsequently registered the concept note for the film in May 2018. I also must clarify the speculations around my conduct as a jury member for Cinestaan’s contest. I had no access to the so-called infringed script at any point in time, as alleged. This fact has been independently confirmed by Cinestaan as well. Even the SWA, who has looked at this dispute in May, 2020, decided in my favour. I speak now to request the press and public not to be disillusioned by false accusations, which are for publicity only. Acts of harassment, defamatory comments, and leaking confidential notices by the accusers only show their lack of faith in their own case. I stand by my truth.”

Statement by Anjum Rajabali, Jury Chairman, Cinestaan Script Contest, “It has come to our notice that there are some reports in the mainstream as well as social media about allegations that Juhi Chaturvedi, the screenwriter of the soon-to-be-released film, ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ has plagiarized the script, ’16, Mohandas Lane’, written by late Rajeev Aggarwal. While it is true that ’16, Mohandas Lane’ was submitted to the first edition of the Cinestaan India’s Storytellers Script Contest of which Juhi Chaturvedi was one of the jury members, we want to clarify that she had absolutely no access to this particular script.”

According to the Chairperson of the contest’s jury, Anjum Rajabali, who designed all the protocols of the screening and judging process for stories and scripts received by the contest, “The process of reading, assessing, screening and judging involved three clear stages. In the first stage, all the submitted stories were read by a bunch of readers and around 325 were shortlisted for me to read. From these, we invited 152 writers to develop their stories into screenplays and submit them to the contest. 126 screenplays were received. In the second stage, these were read by our readers and 20 shortlisted scripts were sent to me, which were read by two senior readers and myself. From these, we shortlisted 8 scripts. And, in the third stage, these 8 scripts were sent to the other three jury members, Aamir Khan, Raju Hirani and Juhi Chaturvedi, to be read by them and by me again. From among these, five were selected for the awards, and ranked in order of merit. While ’16, Mohandas Lane’ made it to the top 20, it did not enter the final list of 8 scripts which were sent to the jury. The jury, including Juhi, had absolutely no access to any script except for the 8 which were sent to them. So, it is totally incorrect to assume that since Juhi Chaturvedi was on the contest’s jury she had received the said script. There is clear documentation, including a trail of e-mails from myself to each jury member, which bears out the above facts unambiguously. Moreover, there is a video recording of me done by Cinestaan in 2018, which clearly outlines the above protocols.”

Statement by Ritika Soni, Vice President, Cinestaan Contest:

“We completely concur with the above statement of Anjum Rajabali, the jury Chairman  of the Cinestaan Storytellers Scriptwriters contest on the issue raised regarding the script of Gulabo Sitabo. The entire selection process for the contest  is very transparent and has been shared with everyone concerned. The script in question was not part of the final 8 sent to any of the other jury members, including Juhi Chaturvedi at any point of time as confirmed by Anjum Rajabali.”

The story of Gulabo Sitabo is different from that sent out in the notice, but despite the SWA ruling in favor of Juhi, these malicious claims have once again been made on the team.

Says Producer Ronnie Lahiri of Rising Sun Films, “ Clearly the allegers are upset as the SWA decision didn’t go in their favor. Releasing the notice to the press, harassing Juhi and the Gulabo Sitabo producers on social media, seems to be a deliberate attempt to malign Juhi and damage the film. At this time, when we have taken the bold decision to release the film on OTT, these baseless allegations only create unnecessary controversy. We request the press to stand by us and condemn the behavior of these allegers and their lawyer for resorting to such tactics only for press, limelight and ulterior motives”.

Rakh Tu Hausla

A  Tribute to Mumbai and its Extraordinary Police Force

“Rakh tu Hausla” is an extremely powerful and motivational song created by Pravin Talan that was recently launched by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, in support of Mumbai Police Foundation.

A very strong buzz had already been created around the song as top Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan, Tiger Shroff, Rajkumar Rao and Mallika Sherawat and many others retweeted the trailer from Mumbai Police twitter handle.

Parambir Singh, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, who led the force from the front in this crisis, makes a rare appearance in the video to boost the morale of his force and Mumbaikars.

A Journey

“Rakh tu Hausla” is  a journey into the heart and spirit of Mumbai city and its police force, shot during the dreaded lockdown. The song has been written by Pravin Talan and Poonam Talan with creative direction by Rupali Saagar, music by Nipoo Khound and recorded in the soulful voice of Swarit Nigam.

Pravin Talan, who has shot, written and directed the video song, has been closely working with various police and armed forces and Disaster Management Department.

Quote

Pravin Talan

“I have spent umpteen anxious nights during this period because of all the risks, but in my heart I just knew that this story needed to be told. This song is not just about Mumbai Police but perhaps of every policeman and corona warrior including health workers across the country and the world. And thankfully, with T-Series , we have the best music platform to create that outreach.

The most difficult part of the song was perhaps writing down the right kind of inspirational lyrics but once that was achieved half the job was done. Going into places like Dharavi wasn’t easy, and many policemen I met during this period eventually found Covid positive. But we all find strength from each other and our own song inspired to move forward.”

Bhushan Kumar, CMD, T-Series

“Rakh tu Hausla is the first song that’s dedicated to extraordinary efforts of police force, beautiful shot in high risk situations by Pravin Talan,”

 Highlights

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, makes a unique appearance in the video and the video begins with a powerful message in her voice. A calm reassurance that these difficult times will change.

This pandemic has thrown up umpteen inspiring stories of the many roles a police man has played in this period -from that of a protector to a provider and a friend. It is a tribute to that undying human spirit. No war is ever fought without casualties and as of 31st May 2020,

1508 Mumbai Police personnel have been infected by the deadly virus and 16 have lost their lives. The war against Covid 19 continues but human spirit shall prevail over anything else. Green Architecture

The Survival Kit for 21st Century

By Khozema Chitalwala

On this world environment day, Ar. Khozema Chitalwala affirms the world with this “Survival Kit for the 21st century”.  The word “green” itself triggers a concatenation of words in our heads like plants, organic, planet or say sustainability. And this further induces a sense of responsibility in us towards our immediate environs. With the shooting up of skyscrapers every now and then, the cities are emerging as packed encampments for job aspirants & more immigrants apart from their originals. These concrete structures add 40% of the gas emissions to the greenhouse effect as per a UN report last year. And other perilous issues like climate change, global warming, population, air pollution etc. are just like adding eggs to basket.

So we have Issues? Yes.

There are problems that need to be addressed? Yes.

How can we or say architects play their role?

So how does green architecture help in prevention?

How about we dig down the lane and add solutions to these 40% of the gas emitters. The definition of green architecture goes beyond the addition of solar panels or green facade, it’s designing and construction of a space/ building with the rudiments which are eco-friendly & sustainable. A building which “generates all of its own energy with renewable nontoxic resources, captures and treats all of its water, and operates efficiently and for maximum beauty” is a definition by The Cascadia Region Green Building Council. Pondering over all these explanations and different notions of ‘green’ architecture, we can enumerate certain characteristics which falls under the umbrella of the above. Commencing from the basics, these can be classified under two: Passive or Active. Passive measures include the design of windows, natural lighting, orientation, insulation etc. A good & sustainable design can be achieved when these measures are taken in consideration during the design charrette. While the measures that are technical or mechanical systems used to achieve the sustainable aspect of a building. Examples like rain-water harvesting systems and solar panels fall under this column.

As a reverence act for the nature and environment, we are under the obligation to design buildings which are not just aesthetically and functionally sound but that also summit the standards of eco-friendly outcome. At Designers Group, we as a team try to introduce sustainable ideas from the scratch of the project. Studying and scrutinising our hospitality deliverables especially hotels like Gift International Club, we incline ourselves to conserve maximum energy whether it is electrical or human to bring out the sustainability aspect of the built. Practises of recycle & reuse are followed by all our major big design schemes. A mandatory introduction of water treating systems is followed in all our hotels. Conversion of garbage to the manure or OT systems further act as green features added to our practises. Another on the list, we are extremely cautious about the lighting aspect of each project. Particularly mentioning the spaces like guest rooms are given utmost importance. Each and every space is pre-designed and mock-ups assist us in the perfect lighting which is neither under or over engineered.

Sustainability is not just a mandatory aspect but also a duty as a designer to paint the skyline with the foundations of eco-friendly footings. We believe our puppy steps with each and every deliverable will definitely do our bit in the bigger picture of contributing towards the nature.

Commitment to Conservation on World Environment Day

Launch of the Earth Basket programme

The Residence by Cenizaro, part of Cenizaro Hotels & Resorts, commemorates World Environment Day on 5 June by demonstrating its commitment to conservation, beginning with the complete rollout of the Earth Basket initiative across most of The Residence by Cenizaro properties this summer. These kitchen gardens are part of Cenizaro’s greater global strategy to deliver world-class hospitality through enriching experiences for guests, staff and the local community.

The new Earth Basket initiative is part of the Cenizaro Cares programme and challenges each resort to successfully transform an area of the resort into a year-round on-site kitchen farm. Spearheaded by each resort’s Green Committee, independence is given to each resort to develop the farms to suit their unique needs and to best showcase native produce. Food waste from the resort is composted in-house and is subsequently used to nourish the kitchen gardens without any further use of pesticides to aid growth. This initiative hopes to showcase the local biodiversity of each destination and provide rich varieties of zero kilometre produce at peak freshness while also serving as an educational tool for staff, guests and the broader community.

These initiatives are part of the overarching Cenizaro Cares programme encompassing all properties under the group. It is the core of Cenizaro’s sustainability strategy and underlines its commitment towards inspiring change for a more sustainable tomorrow. It is also exploring opportunities for guests to engage local communities and aid in nurturing the future over a shared sense of purpose.

 QUOTE

Alexys Tjhia, Director of Corporate Responsibility at The Residence by Cenizaro

“We want to be more than a window for our guests to view the natural beauty of their surroundings. We want to offer travellers an immersive, enriching opportunity for them to experience the real local biodiversity of each of our properties, the full flavours of the land and connect with the community. We are incredibly privileged to be in some of the world’s most breathtaking places and we want to ensure that we pay it back by kickstarting efforts to preserve and grow what makes them so special.”
